Guest guest
Hart deFoux writes a lot about yogis and avayogis in his books. I have always seen them used primarily as indicators of financial fortune. He also gives calculations for the duplicate yogi, which may be the same as the avayogi and, thus, helps to make it not so negative. If the duplicate yogi is the same as the yogi that indicates great financial fortune. Parasara's Light and Shri Jyoti Star both calculate yogi, duplicate yogi and avayogi planets in case you have either of those programs. I've seen people have great financial success during antaras related to their yogi planet that otherwise could not really have been explained. My understanding is that if the yogi and avayogi are conjunct then this would somewhat neutralize the effects of either, but you might still weigh out which is stronger by seeing if they are vargottama, in their own sign, friendly sign, a good house (i.e.,a malefic in something like the 6th would be better than a benefic), etc. If the avayogi happens to be the AK wouldn't that seem to indicate that maybe soul lessons will come from a certain lack of financial prosperity? This is just my understanding of it and I am sure the Gurus will correct this and give you more information. It would be nice if some one who has used it before could clarify some questions I have on the same.Calculation of Yogi and Avayogi:Take longitude of sun (including sign)and add to moon(including sign) then add constant figure 93 degree and 20 minites ..deduct from 360 if it exceed more than it.take nakshatra ruling for resultant degree.. lord of that naxatra becomes yogi..and 6th nakshatra from that becomes avyogi.Yogi in any bhava modifies the results of that bhava favourably and Avayogi does the reverse.Example: 17/11/197817:51 PMBangaloreSun is in Scorpio(1deg 41`) and Moon is in Gemini(2deg 23')Aries to Sun is 7 houses and to moon is 2 houses.= ((7 * 30) + 1 deg 41) + ((2 * 30) + 2deg 23') + 93 deg 20'=367deg 24'367deg 24' - 360deg7 deg 24'This falls in Ashwini Nakshatra, lord Ketu hence YOGI.therefore AVAYOGI is lord of Ardra, Rahu.I do have some doubts regarding this,1) What happens in case of Yogi and Avayogi being conjunct ? 2) What happens in case Avayogi happens to be a AtmaKaraka too ?Thanks in advance, regards,RavishOm Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya; Hare Krishna; Om Tat Sat: gjlist-http://www.goravani.comYour use of is subject to SBC DSL - Now only $29.95 per month! Guest guest
Dear Laurie, Thank you for the prompt response. I do not have either of the software that you have mentioned. I hope I have got the calculation right. Could you please confirm the same, i.e. Ketu as yogi and Rahu as avayogi, if you have it ? In The Pratyantara dasa of Ketu I did make good money, 2002-01-06 - 2002-02-27. I am a little confused now. This is with regards with the above observation. In my chart I have Ketu in 11th indicating sudden wealth or gains, so was it this placement or the yogi concept ? 17/11/1978 17:51 PM Bangalore If you could help me here understand this better, it would be great ! Guest guest
Fortunately I have those programs because I am lousy at manual calculations. Ran your chart and your duplicate yogi is Mars, so you might see how you do during those times also. Mars is 9th from your AL and has A11 in it, so that bodes well, also gives Ruchaka yoga. Ketu as yogi is also complicated (in a positive way) by the fact that it is in your AL and A9 and GL are there also. It is also in a nakshatra ruled by your lagna lord, Venus and in your D-10 is also in your 11th house and exalted. Ketu seems like it should be good for you on many levels, not just as your yogi planet. And, yes, Rahu is your avayogi. Hope this helps. If you have more questions, let me know. Guest guest
Dear Laurie, You are quite kind to attend to my questions. I did check up, my Mars pratyantara dasha and have found it to be correct. So a "duplicate yogi" and "yogi" could indicate financial fortunes. One question regarding your observation, Ketu is in the nakshatra ruled by lagna lord Venus ? Though I dont have the data right now, I seem to recall that it was in Jupiter's nakshatra, Maybe I will check again and get back to you on that. Could you please clarify the following also for me: In my 7th house, there are 3 planets (Sun, Mer, Mars). Mer and Mars being in the nakshtra of Mer (Jyestha) (2 and 5 lord). Mars is combust. Presence of Sun in Jupiters nakshtra (Vishaka) (8 and 11 lord). Exalted Jupiters aspects this with its 5th aspect. Now that I have stated the data, let me build up the question. One way of looking at things is, presence of Mars, Mer and Sun is bad for marriage ? Another way of seeing it is conjunction of trik, kendra and dhan lord in 7th. So this is ok ? Instead if you would see it from UL, it is Gemini with Moon in it. Second from UL has exalted Jupiter in it. 7th from UL is Saggi. 8th from UL is empty. Upapada house is 4th from AL, with its lord Mer being 9th from AL. Sorry if this seems like a barrage of thoughts, but I feel there must be some observation which would have more weightage here. 17/11/1978 17:51 Bangalore Awaiting your help, Regards, Ravish
