Re: Sun in 1st reading

>From GJ readings for Sun in 1st:

"The Sun in summer solstice brings disputes and makes you egocentric and

selfish. The Sun in winter solstice promotes divinity. "

Does anyone know what this means?

Is it:

(a) Every year at summer solstice (Northern or Southern hemisphere?)

.... disputes etc, and at winter ... divinity?

Or

(b) If the native was born at summer solstice then "... disputes and

makes you egocentric and selfish..."

or if born "... in winter solstice promotes divinity. "

Peter

Dear Peter,

It's excellent, but 'general reading' for Sun in 1st-

the stronger the Sun, the bigger the Ego.

In fact, I've found that to be true. Of course you need to judge the whole

chart- if you havem, say full 12th house,

it would manifest differently...just an idea..

that's just a piece of the picture.

Hi Anna

What if Sun and Mars are together in Scorpio in the first house:

would that be interpreted to mean aggresive as well as egoistic? I

know such a person as quite confident and having the power to lead in

almost any situation! Also he seems very concerned about what world

thinks and careful of not making enemies...how do we read this. Both

Mars and Sun are very strong.

Dear Aneesh,

If I read you well, you are absolutely right- the mere fact that Sun & Mars are

in 1st, doesn't necessarily make one selfish, aggressive..It can well be as you

said: leadership ability. Powerful energy is there- where that goes, one have to

study the chart as a whole /is there any contact with Jupiter/or with Saturn,

what the Moon does.. I agree with you, cook-book interpretations can provide

only direction, in no way are they meant to be used as 'final facts'. Sun and

mars /strong by sign and placement in 1st/ would indicate that the person is

not hesitant about taking initiative, has self confidence, courage and

initiative..Self-awareness that with some weaker Sun would be lower, may not be

the problem here at all.. In fact, only the whole chart can say whether the

native would be more on a positive or negative side /note: by common social

standards/- or better yet, neither 'positive' nor 'negative' connotation exists

per se, and in 'vacuum it's interpretation which 'attaches' + an -/both should

be avoided, IMHO, unless strikingly unavoidable/

Hope this clarify my position on this, Aneesh, which seems to be the same as yours.

Warm regards,

Anna
