Dear All

Can you explain how Bhagya is associated with death degrees? I know that he is

jolly and savors each moment because life is a gift that only lasts so long.

Is that it or is there more to the story?

Y'all know I love the myth, hoping to learn more about him. He is one of my favorite deities.

Y'all know I love the myth, hoping to learn more about

him. He is one of my favorite deities.

The Deity "Bhagya" is different than the degrees referred to as

"Bhagas". Thus Bhagya the Deity, is not at all related to

what is meant by Mrtyu-bhaga, which means death degree. Actually,

bhaga means something like "place' or "environment", and

such degrees which are associated with death for each planet, in each

sign, are given in the classical text Jataka Parijata. These are

dangerous positions for a planet's occupation. In researches with

MB which I did in the past, transit Saturn was found to be making an

"exact" degree aspect to the planet in MB when death

occurred. Of course, whether the event resulting is actually death,

as opposed to some kind of vexing or challenging situation, needs to be

seen within the context of whether the chart shows short, medium, or long

life. A maraka dasa being ruled by a planet in MB, almost

certainly brings death or life-threatening situations, and this

possibility will be increased if malefics, especially Saturn, are

aspecting such a planet.

Anyway, Deities associated with joy and fun need not be burdened with all

of this!

Best regards,

Robert
