Guest guest
Dear Sateesh (Trish and Anna), I realize it may be past cognitive hours in the waking state in UK, but yes, Trish and Anna have provided me the clarification I am seeking. And I had a general understanding of the "functional malefic/benefic," (not the term "MT") but can "see" it much better in your explanation. One last question, I think on this, for all of you: would the Jupiter dasa (in October) be "less than auspicious" for a Cancer lagna (me) with NT Jupiter in H-3, based on your explanation(s) below (realizing you cannot give a comprehensive answer without the full chart, but a general answer will do). RE: the functional (malefic) nature of Jupiter in H-6 and H-8, it "feels better" that Mars is out of H-6 (and no longer opposing Saturn) and into H-7 now, although I have some "apprehension" that Mars will spend from June-December (because of the retrograde) in H-8 (for a Cancer lagna, and this will oppose NT Mars). Is this justified? Anyhow, with the Leo Gibbous Moon tomorrow, I am certainly "feeling" the dynamic tension of the approaching Full Moon Grand Cross. I'm viewing all of this as potentially positive, but with such a crowded 1st house, I think it's all (Mars-Jupiter) somewhat combustible, so I need to rest more I think, for this period of time. Thanks to all of you for your generous sharing. Guest guest
Dear Sateesh, Janna, Trish, I tried not to repeat what you and Trish said in your posts- but being Cancer Lagna myself, feel compelled to confirm what you said- and SA approach stand on this- that Jupiter is /mild?/ malefic - Traditionally it's cosidered great benefic for Cn Lagna- I've lived through couple of Jupiter ret.'s, and tr. over Asc has never been quite pleasant-healthwise in particular- as soon as it moves to second house, it's benefic nature becomes evident /my NT Jup is well placed in 9th/- one more important thing I 'tested' /important in assessing effects of any transit, and Jupiter tr. as well, all other things being equal, of course/ is number of bindus in the house /ashtakavarga/- in houses with high bindus points it's transit is the most beneficial- except for the first /good bindus points in my case exclude this factor/ For Mars, yogakaraka for Cn lagna- I would be careful whenever mars makes aspect with my NT Moon- it tends to be upsetting- / my NT Moon is semi-square NT Mars/ Mars is Mars, even if yK, I'd say Jupiters-mars c. are always good /sometimes too much so- and thus 'dangerous/ As for your Jupiter MD Janna, I'd expect functional-benefic effects /extent depending on NT factors/ Anna - Sateesh Batas Saturday, April 12, 2003 2:25 PM Re: [GJ] Re:Mars-Jupiter Aspect-Grand Cross, T-square, etc. Dear Janna, I see that Trish and Anna have superbly explained the answers. As Trish alluded to, Jupiter is "functionally" somewhat malefic for your Ascendant (Cancer) as its MT sign (Sagittarius) is in the 6th - whereas Mars is a planet Par Excellence ruling a Kendra and a Trine (so Yogakaraka) - so for each Ascendant, one must take into account the Functional nature of Jupiter and Mars - i.e. are they good or bad lords. As Vedic Astrology as I use it does not give 90* aspects to ALL planets (only to Mars as its 4th aspect, and Saturn as its 10th aspect), this I think is where the Apples and Oranges mixture is - not to say that all planets DON'T have 90* aspects - just they are not used "across the solar system" as they are in Western. I have a similar "grand, erm...something" going on from May 08th - TR Jupiter at 16* Cancer will oppose TR Mars at 16* Capricorn - they will both be hit/hitting Natal Jupiter-Mars in Capricorn at 15* and 20* respectively. So 4 lots of Jupiter-Mars going on there! Guest guest
Dear Anna, Yes, under S.A. Jupiter is considered Malefic as it's MT sign Sagittarius is in the 6th House for Cancers. However, the 6th I feel is quite mild as a Malefic house, compared to the 8th and 12th Houses. In addition, although Jupiter's MT is in the 6th, it's Non-MT Pisces is in the best house of the chart, viz. the 9th (a trine) - as we know, Jupiter has special affection for the 9th House. So given that, I feel Jupiter is "mostly (but not wholly) malefic" for Cancers. A similar example is Saturn for Virgos, which rules their 6th (MT) and 5th (trine as non-mt) houses.
