Guest guest
Dear Thor, Do we have a chart for Korea? Sateesh. ======== http://www.ntlworld.com/partners/ananova/news/world/south_korea-_newsflash_update-_crime-_fires/751935.html Death toll rises as 200 feared dead 3:33pm Tuesday, 18th February 2003 More than 200 people are feared dead after a man started a fire on an underground train in South Korea. Officials say 130 bodies have been recovered and 99 people are still missing hours after the incident. Firefighters say dozens of charred bodies are still in the wreckage of two trains that were engulfed in Daegu, one of last year's football World Cup venues. The fire started in a six-carriage train at a station, igniting seats and spreading to another train also at the station. A man was arrested, but police said they had no clue what his motive was. Witnesses said Kim Dae-han, 56, was carrying a milk carton filled with flammable material when he boarded the train. "When the man tried to use a cigarette lighter to light the box, some passengers tried to stop him. Apparently a scuffle erupted and the box exploded into flames," a police spokesman said. Firefighters took three hours to extinguish the blaze, which sent thick black smoke pouring from the entrance of one station. Fireman Park Chang-shik describing the scenes said "There were white bones scattered on the floor mixed with people's burned belongings - there was even a skull. "I brought up four bodies. They were lying on the stairs." © Copyright Ananova Ltd 2003, all rights reserved. ---Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com).Version: 6.0.455 / Virus Database: 255 - Release Date: 13/02/2003 Attachment: (image/gif) spacer.gif [not stored]
