Defining Mind

Hi everyone,

This is about mind-soul distinction.Lot of people

confuse between the two.

In the Bhagvad Gita, the lord says---

"Earth,water,fire,air,ether,mind,intelligence and

false

ego constitute my seperated material energies"

"Besides these, there is another nature of mine which

consists of the living entities(souls)".

This means that the soul is --- the one who exists, the

counsciousness,perceiver,experiencer,the one who

enjoys

and suffers,etc.

Whereas the mind is-- the instrument of perception,a

subtle form of matter with no life, instrument of

thought,seat of the senses,etc.

I have a question here. -- Do emotions and feelings

AND

Memory belong to the soul only and not the mind?

I am referring to MEMORY in particular. In the Srimad

Bhagavatam, there are instances of past life

recollectons on the basis of which we can conclude

that

MEMORY belongs to the soul.

I think-- the gross body is like hardware and the mind

is like software.

Can someone define mind exactly please?

Best wishes,

vivek.

Re defining what is mind, what stays with the soul, etc.

Viviek quoted Gita, wherein it says, Krishna speaking, "the following are MY

material energies..."

It strikes make that when a God says "MY", then it automatically creates

racial dislike and sectarianism, for it automatically means that such

"material energies" do NOT belong to the Gods of other cultures.

Seeing that they have none of their own, the white people flock to the

confident Gods of the Hindus, who seem to own everything.

Anyway, we may not be sure which God owns what, or what parts of ourselves

stick with ourselves (which we're not sure of either, what is the SELF

exactly), but we do know what does and does not work in this life for having

a happy living being, and it does seem that living being carry their overall

conception to the next life, and that this life's overall conception shapes

the next one.

We also know Jyotish works, or that we have little choice in any matter.

So it seems to me that:

There is one huge self discovering fun and frolic and pain in many

fragmented pieces of that one consciousness.

That sectarianism is bodily based, which may be good, as it may be the

fragments finding truths about role playing as being parts of the whole, ie,

Indians, lets call them "Sun People" for now, are experiencing having the

undeniable most established and greatest pantheon of pagan Gods and

scriptures, period.

The Saturn people, are experiencing having none, due to them all being

obliterated long ago (this is say, the CELTS!, my other favorite topic)

I have found that the mind is best aided by association.

For example, other people preaching at you about your conceptions

(counseling, hanging out, sharing, sex, etc, all these forms of associating

with another mind uplift your own)

So that proves that it is collective, or one, as it improves when with other

parts.
