Guest guest Posted January 21, 2003 Report Share Posted January 21, 2003 I am a devotee of Paramahansa Yogananda's and have worn an astrological bracelet made to the specifications of his guru, Sri Yukteswar, for almost two years. (Self-Realization Fellowship, the organization founded by Yogananda, has them made.) While it is my belief that wearing the bracelet has been beneficial, there is no way to "prove" that, or specially identify its effects, because we'll never be able to know how things would have gone for me during this period had I not worn it. I can say that during this period my health has dramatically improved (I have lost and kept off an astonishing amount of weight and thereby seriously reduced some dangerous risk factors, got rid of high blood pressure, etc.) and I have had more professional success (though I was doing OK before). However, to give you a balanced view, I have also participated actively for 3 years in a group which sponsors yagyas in Los Angeles and India on a regular (at least monthly) basis. Additionally, two years ago I entered a new mahadasha period (Ketu), which has been better for me than the prior Mercury dasha (I have an Aries lagna so Mercury is a functional malefic for me). My feeling is that, in my case, all of these activities/events are interrelated and each reinforces the influence of the others. At the time I purchased the bracelet, I felt inspired to do so by the SRF line of gurus. (I have always felt a particular connection to Sri Yukteswar, who, not so coincidentally, has a stellium of planets in my lagna sign.) But I do know of a "three metal bracelet" prescribed by a Vedic Palmist whom I see regularly. The only thing I know about this bracelet is that is helps to "ground you" among other things. I haven't gotten one myself, but have heard a lot of positive things from people who wear one. On page 190 his guru prescribes a combination of metals specifically for Paramahansa who then goes to a jeweler to obtain or have one made. Namaste!! dear one, i am wondering if, since you know of Swami Sri Yukteswarji's "stellium" of planets in your Lagna Sign...i am wondering, i say, if you might therefore have the birth data for the illustrious Swamiji....i am extremely interested in conducting research into the astrological connections between Gurus, and their Disciples...i have gone into this topic on this list many times a couple years ago...and i have found it a very fruitful line of investigation...i particularly love Sri Yukteswarji's "Holy Science"...such a refreshing breath of fresh air in the Jyotish department. i have felt a strong connection with Paramahansaji himself, for many years, and do believe that in a real way, he introduced me to my Divine Mother...Ammachi...as he has introduced many others...He just suggested that we should call Mother to come and never give up...and that if we would only do that, with all the innocence of Mother's own little child, that She cannot stay away for long...that She cannot refuse the loving child's crying calls of Love...and following Paramahansaji's advice, (even using a picture of Divine Mother, from his books) i called and called and called Her...and just as He insisted, She came...and not only that She led me to my Guru, Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi.... you must have done some of that research yourself, in regard to your own Gurus, since you know about that stellium...so if you do have that birth info for Swami Sri Yukteswarji, would you be so kind as to share it with me... most humbly, in Divine Mother's Love, and in Her Service, as ever, your own self, visvanathan Om Amrtesvaryai Namah!
