Hello everyone,

Does somebody know ebay's legal dealings, their back out of a won bid

policy, on a serious item... somebody used my account, my son, and won, and

backed out, and they're calling me. I'm nervous. Help if you can with info

as I personally have never used and know nothing about ebay. Please help.

Thanks,

Don't be nervous; it's nothing to worry about. You might want to

contact eBay and let them know someone used your son's account

fraudulently, but even if they don't believe you, the worst that can

happen to your son in practice is that the seller leaves your son bad

feedback, which is available for other users to evaluate his honesty.

Once bad feedback is left, your son will then be able to leave a

response indicating that the bid was fraudulent.

(This, in spite of eBay's or the seller's legal posturing to the

contrary that your son's bid constitutes a legal contract. It does

only if they can prove that he did, in fact, make the bid, and even

then, only if he's old enough to enter into a binding contract.)

And speaking of the seller, he or she is not seriously inconvenienced,

either. All the seller does at this point is notify the runner-up,

and the sale is consummated between those two.

Don't let this intimidate you; it happens quite often, and when it does,

most folks just shrug their shoulders.

eBay is a online auction provider.

Please submit a dispute resolution form at the following web site and they will contact eBay.
