Guest guest
Hi Chris, and others, as one of you may... I have many times been told to publish. First it was about Jyotish. I can do that. But there are many beginner books, still, some say, "do yours, we want it". So I probably will do that. But I long to write something else, and it comes out here and there, it's more philosophical, touching on the effects of Ancient history, touching on Hinduistic thought, touching on modern malaise, touching on the battles I've had with my mind, and what I've learned therefrom, and so on. I'm just not sure "what" that book would be exactly about...too undefined at this point. On the modern human condition...? About us, our spirits, history, and modern times... ??? The ramblings of a madman!... I think the idea may come from outside me. This letter is a poke to see if something comes, I admit. das
Guest guest
Hi Das, You should definitely publish!..a collection of your thoughts and/or short essays would be wonderful! I spend a lot of my free time browsing the bookstores and noticed there is a real interest in books of a spiritual/philosophical nature out there. Most of them are collections of short essays grouped around different themes. Most of those themes are centered either on rediscovering our spiritual side, simplifying our lives, etc.. There are many which are centered on Buddhist, Christian, Islamic, Jewish, etc.. themes but I have not seen any which look at Hinduism from a contemporary and/or Western perspective. Often, books written on eastern religious thought are written by scholars who have not experiences these cultures first hand or practiced these religions. You have (and still are) experienced the East and Hinduism. From the little I know, you grew up in the West and now live there so you have the benefit of that perspective as well. Hinduism or any of its facets as not been made easily available nor "digestible" to a Westerners yet..you write from your soul, as yourself, which has the potential to touch and affect many people. Guest guest
I agree with the rest. Look at this way. There are a lot of people out there who struggle with questions and problems in life. You have made enough progress, that you are at a healing point. This is better than a lot of the poor folks who cannot even get that far, and commit suicide because of the dispair. We all know that life is a continual struggle to improve one's self. so "Being Done" with the adaptation is not an option (usually means you have passed on as your struggle is over). People who would have given up on their own problems, will often take heart from those of others. They will push on for that one or two more days that it takes to start the upward trend. They need to know that they can obtain it, albeit usually with a lot of effort. It is important to them to know that once they start, it won't always be uphill, but, that the reversals are simply that, reversals, not complete descents to the pits of dispair. You can tell this story from a unique standpoint. Since you are a pacifist, vegetarian, follower of Ahimsa and other parts of the Path, you have the ability to blend these into your struggle and offer them as parts of the solution. -- John M
