Guest guest
Andrew: "We are better off materially and finacially now...... In India and particulary Pakistan, children and women still suffer greatly and to think it was better in the past is a pipe dream. Bonded labour and child slavery are still rampant all over Asia. " D.: I'm glad someone got around to pointing this out. And that it wasn't me. And once again, I will say, go have a look at Sita Agrawal's piece on www.dalitstan.com under the on-line books section. She's writing of the philosopical views that she feels led to her sister's murder via satee by her in-laws in a dowry fight...goeds a bit over board in my opinion. I think the chick's in-laws were flat out psycohpaths using religion as a way to have their way. It isn't pointed out very often, either, that prostituition is rampant in Israel b/c there is no room much less work for the new arrivals from the Societ Union and other places. It's over crowed, expensive and jobs are hard o come by sometimes. I'm saying women have problems all over. Children too. Andrew: "It is a fact that many Indians and Asians would pack up and move to a western country in five minutes if given a chance. Our countries have welfare, health care, clean water, sanitation and a standard of living far superior to that found in their countries. That is a fact. .....Who wants wisdom if living in a rubbish bin??" D: No kidding. I've often wondered, why India is such a labyrinth, while Japan and China are so..organized? All those J & C ducks line up in a row., metaphorically speaking. The literacy rate is so much high in either of those countries, China and Japan. Why? Is it racial? Is it martial law in China? What? I wish it would rub off on the Indians, for their sakes..Sewers are great things to have aren't they? So is indoor plumbing. Why isn't there an Indian VISTA/PEACE CORP to deal with this? Why not inscription of young people instead of to the army to a WPA/CCC/ education for literacy programs, to build roads and sewers and decent living quarters and tolearn to read in exchange for education? Either for them or other family members? Hey, why not more or it here, too? Andrew: "The biggest problems in western countries are the people constantly bagging, carping and whining about their own country instead of being bloody grateful for the great standard of living they have. D: I think we're aiming for Utopia, so we kvetch. Nothing wrong with improvement Andrew. Unless it's compulsive, like always dumping out ash trays, I supose. Andrew: "Now India is a country of great spiritual wisdom for sure but so was ancient Scotland, France, Thailand, Cambodia etc etc." D: No argument there. But tell it to the Khmeer Rouge if any are left. They seem to have missed that point these days. So have the Burmese/Myramarians. Ever notice how the worls sorta divides into "we're the smartest, they're the smartest, so do evrything they do". And then ther'e the "who cares group." Andrew: "Material comfort is totally important in life." D: Yeah, Maslow's Pyramid. Food, shelter and clothing first, and then afte tht is settled, we have time to deal with the rest of it. I agree with Richard Houck and you too over the astrology importance, too. It so often feels like how many angles can cance on the head of a pin sort of thing? And you can't ge an accurate thing without a birthtime. You know, some peope--in one novel, and I doubt that it didn't happen--used to think just reading--no, just opening a Bible would keep you from catching a disease passsing through the air. When soap and water would have done better...I seriuosly wonder about medical astrology becasue of it. Better to study medicine, anatomy, Chinese or auyervedic or whatever that directly deals with it. Your birthday doesn't enter so much not it.Yes, it does some in those, however. .More your medical history. Empirical evidence. Keep eating your dark green veggies and the orange ones, A. Best Wishes, D.
