Dear Listers

Last week when I was visiting my mother she told me the man who lived next

door was dying of cancer . So I took a gift over to his wife who was tending

him and allowing him to die at home in the sun room looking out at the

garden . Her son was also there .We had been good friends for about 12 years

or so growing up together . So we caught up with each other .He is a

vegetarian , has a spiritual path and he understood the spiritual nature of

persons and was coping well with the situation . The following day his

father died . In such circumstances it is spiritual understanding rather

than astrology that has value . Astrology is an interest or an occupation

for some but is certainly not all important or even an imperative .

Your post resonates with me in the way you described.

 

I could say it this way:

 

We can use our brains to understand the patterns of astrology, and through

it we can view life in all it's workings, and understand the system

intellectually.

 

We still, each of us, have to live it as well. As we live our karma, very

special trials unique to us, and unique visions of grand feelings, will be

ours. Community, relations, our own abilities mentally, will be what we lean

on in hard times.

 

Hard times come to all of us. We have to live them. Astrology can at that

time just perhaps stand back and whisper "there is a plan, believe, trust

the plan and planmaker". Perhaps it can lend some solace of knowing.

Exactly, who wants to hear about their malefic Saturn while dying, it has no

meaning then. I remember writing to Rick Houck and asking him if he thought

by understanding astrology we can actually change our fate. He said he too

often questioned himself and his attachment to astrology and whether it was

actually useful for anything. I didn't know he was dying and more than

likely questioning the meaning of his soon to end life. I never ever wrote

back as I thought it would have been totally superfluous to discuss

something I could not even understand or come to terms with. (dying of

cancer).

Exactly, the importance some are placing on it and their desperate need to

defend it shows how empty and shallow most of them really are. I include

myself at the top of that list.
