Guest guest
Vyam Vyaasa-devaya Namah, Dear Visti, Can you please tell me where Parasara says so? From what I could understand, BPHS only says that the effects of a graha are 100% if it is at deep exaltation and 0% if it is in deep debilitation. It never talks about a graha causing damage because it is in debilitation. Or is the fact that a debilitated graha being unable to protect its significations in that bhava (and in its own house) appear to us as if the grada is "causing" damage. Thanks, Siva. gjlist, "Visti Larsen" <vishnu@l...> wrote: > Vyam Vyaasadevaaya Namah > > -- ------------ > > Dear Sateesh, > A planet causes more damage when its unhappy. > I dunno where you got other ideas from. > Best wishes > Visti > --- > Bhagavad Purana: http://www.srimadbhagavatam.org > ITRANS Font: http://www.aczone.com/itrans/ > Brihat Parasara Hora Shastra: vedic- astrologybphs.zip > > > - > "Sateesh Batas" <makara@n...> > <gjlist> > Monday, October 07, 2002 3:22 PM > Re: [GJ] Help needed: Ketu Mahadasha > > > > > > Dear Zoran, > > > > Can you elaborate on this point? > > > > I thought (according to SJC rules, or is it Parasara or Jaimini?) a Malefic > > that is Debilitated (weak) can only cause LESS damage than a strong Malefic > > (strong Malefic can cause MORE damage)? > > > > So if it is posted in a Dushthana - does it again become capable of harming, > > even though weak in Debility? > > > > Cheers - Sateesh. > > > > ======== > > > > - > > "Zoran Radosavljevic" <ahimsa@N...> > > <gjlist> > > Monday, October 07, 2002 2:10 PM > > Re: [GJ] Help needed: Ketu Mahadasha > > > > > > : Om Namo Narayanaya, > > : Dear Neha, > > : Let's analyze Ketu in your chart > > : 1. Guest guest
Vyam Vyaasadevaaya Namah Dear Siva, Strenth is the for balas, like Vimsopaka Bala etc. Have you read what Maharishi Parasara says about the effects of an exalted planet vs a debilitated one? He definitely doesn't say that the effects of a debilitated planet are zero, he says that the effects are inauspicious - evil. What does Neecha mean? What does Ucche mean? If you want slokas, i could find so many that it would be considered spam mail. Guest guest
Vyam Vyaasa-devaya Namah, Dear Visti, Thanks for your explanation. I went through BHPS and found the quote in the first chapter itself. In deep debilitation, the auspicious effects of the graha are zero and inauspicious effects are 100%. So if a natual malefic is in debilitation, it will be very bad for the native as all its bad effects will be in full force. However, what I found very interesting was that Maharishi Parasara equates a graha in ememy's camp as the same (as bad) as debilitation. Can you or some other Guru explain the reasoning behind why malefics debilitated in kendras give raja yoga? Thanks, Siva. .............. BPHS -Chapter 1: "59-60. Ratio of Effects. A Grah in exaltation gives fully good effects, while in Mooltrikon it is bereft of its auspicious effects by one fourth. It is half beneficial in its own Bhava. Its beneficence is one fourth in a friendly Râúi. In an equal's Râúi one eighth of auspicious disposition is useful. The good effects are nil in debilitation, or enemy's camp. Inauspicious effects are quite reverse with reference to what is stated." gjlist, "Visti Larsen" <vishnu@l...> wrote: > Vyam Vyaasadevaaya Namah > > -- ------------ > > Dear Siva, > Strenth is the for balas, like Vimsopaka Bala etc. > Have you read what Maharishi Parasara says about the effects of an exalted planet vs a debilitated one? Guest guest
Om Namo Narayanaya, Dear Shiva, This is clear.. See avasta. There are Deepthanadhi avastas, which are ranged per dignity. Graha in debilitation is in bad avasta, and if shadbal is strong, it would certainly cause much suffering.. Guest guest
dear visti and listmembers, I hope I am not stepping across the line here by asking a personal question. I also have a ketumahadasha period coming up (dob: january 19, '64, 6:33pm, calcutta india) and have been trying to figure out just what is wrong in the picture. I have been having a LOT of problems mentally and hence in my work. I have always wanted to write full time and in that hope I have been researching a book I hope to publish someday soon but there are times I feel like I don't want to continue at all. the book has become a monster and is almost consuming me (visions of the old stories of chandragrahan swim around in my head) but I cannot let go. I need to finish this and something tells me that I need to finish this book if I want to get anywhere near to being a full time writer. my finances are at a low point and I need to do something about it as well. but something tells me that this book is a key to my future and so I persevere despite misgivings. I think I am a bit depressed as well (though may be not clinically) and the approaching ketu mahadasha fills me with dread, more so as the past mercury mahadasha has not been very fruitful for me. BUT, I have noticed that in the past, ketu bhuktis and antardasha have resulted in short term success for me. not necessarily monetarily but in terms of "improvement of circumstance" as in maybe a new job or academic success. I have ketu and mercury in the sixth in sagittarius unaspected by any planet except rahu in 12th. this means that I have a natural malefic in a dusthana but in an exalted house (IF we take sag as exaltation for ketu). it's also in the ninth in virgo in the navamsa (together with saturn). any ideas as to what the next years and ketu (and Rahu) could have in store for me? are my aspects working against me? will I be able to finish this book or am I wasting my time totally? should I give up on writing entirely and instead go get a job in publishing (if I can) or something? please email me or post. any help would be appreciated. many thanks. idg. Guest guest
Dear IdasGupta I know some very experienced astrologers who say that the Ketu Mahadasha is the worst . However I can offer one insight that may be helpful .Ketu is the planet of transformations and so the period brings changes to the native . For us mortal beings living in a world of temporariness change is inevitable and so it is best to see the positives that changes bring rather than being sorrowful about what is lost or clinging to some past that no longer exists ..It sounds like you have already in Ketu Bhuktis experienced Ketu's power for changes . Transforming periods often give us the freedom to be what we want to be rather than what we have been . Overall your chart is not too bad ,the Yogakaraka 5th and 10th Lord Mars is exalted in the 7th house so you might do well in professions or business whlie Jupiter is strong and well placed . Well that's a start Nicholas - "idasgupta98" <idasgupta98 <gjlist> Tuesday, October 08, 2002 6:17 PM Re: [GJ] Help needed: Ketu Mahadasha -Visti > dear visti and listmembers, > > I hope I am not stepping across the line here by asking a personal > question. Guest guest
Vyam Vyaasadevaaya Namah Dear idg, Offcourse your depressed, Saturn is causing Ardha-Kanataka on your Moon, whilst Full Kanataka on your Arudha Lagna. As the word 'kanataka' implies, this causes alot of obstacles/thorns and the mind feels that nothing is going right. The remedy is to read Channakam. Otherwise listening to Hanuman is also a good idea.. anything to worship Mars. Saturn is your Atmakaraka as well, and hence you are naturally disposed towards alot of sorrow, especially related to relationships(placed in 7th). Now to your question on dasa's. Mercury Maha Dasa has been running for quite some time, and being the 3rd lord, joined with A3(arudha of 3rd house), occupied you with writing. Now this happens in the 2nd from Arudha Lagna, which should give alot of wealth, however Mercury is joined Ketu, and hence this is obstructed during Mercury Maha Dasa. Ketu is however going to be much more fruitfull. Ketu is similarly placed as mercury, hence putting the focus on writing, and is lord of the Arudha Lagna & 5th house(scorpio), and is causing Raja Yoga by being in Rasi dristi with Jupiter and Moon. As Ketu is exalted in the 2nd from AL, the wealth is likely to come in. Say from the begining of Sun Antar Dasa. Venus antara will give you the needed loans. Make sure you reap your benefits from this, before Jupiters Antara Dasa. After that, Jupiter takes the Amrita away from Ketu. Have something else set up by then. Otherwise listening to Hanuman is also a good idea.. anything to worship Mars. sorry for my ignorance but what is the channakam, please? and how do I listen to Hanuman? last year I was given a coral to wear around my neck and told that it should take care of the "excess mars energy in my chart". I don't really know if it has done anything. although I have mellowed out a bit. although that could just be age! > Saturn is your Atmakaraka as well, and hence you are naturally disposed towards alot of sorrow, especially related to relationships (placed in 7th). this is so very true. in fact, my book deals with the subject of grief and sorrow and how various people are equipped in different ways to deal with them. I am actually a very solitary person. I seem to have many friends but tend to like my books and music and my own company to anyone else's. I know some people who think I am very unsocial and rude. but I just like being by myself. at least for a large part of the day. and writing lets me do that. but this alone- ness, since knowing jyotish, I have come to think of it as a necessary condition of people with their shani in the 7th. only I have all three - sani, mars and sun in that house. doozie, huh? > Now to your question on dasa's. > > Mercury Maha Dasa has been running for quite some time, and being the 3rd lord, joined with A3(arudha of 3rd house), occupied you with writing. Now this happens in the 2nd from Arudha Lagna, which should give alot of wealth, however Mercury is joined Ketu, and hence this is obstructed during Mercury Maha Dasa. and also the fact that mercury is debilitated, no? do you agree that my mercury is not particularly strong? could that have also been a reason for this long past period (mercury mahadasha) to have been so very stop-start? at times I feel like a failure mainly because I have always thought that I liked writing and did it well but have not had any real success at it yet. that in part is contributing to my low feelings. will I not be able to survive by writing? > Ketu is however going to be much more fruitfull. Ketu is similarly placed as mercury, hence putting the focus on writing, and is lord of the Arudha Lagna & 5th house(scorpio), and is causing Raja Yoga by being in Rasi dristi with Jupiter and Moon. please. how does ketu involve itslef in the raj yoga thru rashi drishti from jupiter/moon? I don't understand. I thought jupiter and moon only had 7th drishti or in jupiter's case 5th and 9th. but ketu is in sagittaius and jupiter moon are in pisces. > As Ketu is exalted in the 2nd from AL, the wealth is likely to come in. Say from the begining of Sun Antar Dasa. Venus antara will give you the needed loans. okay, a quick check with you. I have (in my printed chart) Ketu dasha starting 6th december 2002. venus antardasha starts jauary 1st and sun starts 8th january. jupiter antardasha starts 11 march. am I right? > Make sure you reap your benefits from this, before Jupiters Antara Dasa. After that, Jupiter takes the Amrita away from Ketu. will the subsequesnt antardashas bring it back? I mean, do I have something to look forward to by the time Jupiter gets his? also, you are talking here about the antardashas; but what do bhuktis mean? they come at a much slower pace, don't they. > Have something else set up by then. but isn't my jupiter in the 9th with moon forming a gajakesari yoga? that doesn't help or mean anything? also when you say "have something else set up by then" do you mean that I need to finish this book and submit it by then and start working on another? or could it mean that I need to look for altogether another career and forget about writing? I would be grateful if you could please clarify, Visti. thank you again so very much for your help and advice. thanks so much. take care. idgie. > Best wishes > Visti > --- > Bhagavad Purana: http://www.srimadbhagavatam.org > Brihat Parasara Hora Shastra: vedic- astrologybphs.zip > iTRANS 99 Font: http://www.omkarananda- ashram.org/Sanskrit/Itranslt.html > - > "idasgupta98" <idasgupta98> > <gjlist> > Tuesday, October 08, 2002 10:17 AM > Re: [GJ] Help needed: Ketu Mahadasha -Visti > > > > > > dear visti and listmembers, > > > > I hope I am not stepping across the line here by asking a personal > > question.
