Guest guest
Namaste ~ I would like to welcome Dr. Satya Choudhary and Paramjyoti dasa to the glist. Siva, your letter of apology shows a great deal of character; I was heartened to see it. Paramjyoti dasa wrote: May God bless you and all that misunderstanding will stop. May this list flourish Misunderstanding and conflict are such a powerful teachers that I do not wish them to be absent from Creation. Yesterday Dr. Choudhary wrote: Guru Tattwa is the SPIRIT which keeps manifesting through everything all the time. Being open to this continuous learning process is what matters really. I couldn't agree more. Conflict does have its place, given we are living in a dualistic Universe; through it we learn when it's best to bend and when to stand firm; we learn the importance of being able to do both, as a balanced person. Eventually, we learn compassion through our losses and eventually we grow creative and generous enough in Spirit to extend ourselves in the way that Dr. Choudhary describes below: We are here to help people, to give them hope, to counsel them, guide them, to inspire them to be happy and peaceful. Not to condemn, criticize or pull down anyone's confidence." But .... in the meantime ... misunderstandings and conflicts can teach us how to become resilient. Eventually, we learn to expand rather than shut down when faced with challenges. Eventually we empower ourselves enough to stand up for what we value, (as Sateesh did to Das, Robyn, Siva and J.Abbott,) and we learn to bounce back after setbacks, failures, disappointments and losses. Becoming resilient is important because it means not giving up as we continue to face the future with optimism and courage ... despite events. This is a teaching I wish I had more successfully imparted to my dear son, Michael, who allegedly committed suicide only two years ago. I am learning that in order to become resilient, it is important to be able to self-reflect and learn wisdom by taking the value out of my direct experience rather than wish it were otherwise. I've heard that it is as self-defeating to want reality to be different, as it would be to try to teach a cat to bark. You can try and try and in the end that cat will look up at you and say "Meow." Still, many times a day I become aware that my mind is thinking thoughts like, "People should be kinder. The line at the grocery store should be faster." "My Beloved should agree with me more." "This event should not have happened." etc. etc., ad nauseam. These thoughts each want Life to be different than it is, in reality and the only time we really suffer is when we have thoughts which argue with what is. Acceptence is as relative and necessary as protesting for positive change. Well .... that's my 2 cents. My very best wishes to all ~ Chandra ~ --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
