Guest guest
Namaste Listmembers, I am world weary. I had the good fortune to be born poor. Just as I can't remember learning to swim as a toddler, living without a lot of 'stuff' seems second nature or automatic. Even with my AK Venus transiting the 3rd, I feel no compulsion to abandon philanthropy!. What very little I know, I owe to the teachings of Sanjay, the SJVC gurus and the many giving souls who share so freely on these lists. Thank You All. My good fortune has resulted in helping others where I can. I have never charged a fee nor do I ever intend to. I consider this Sacred Knowledge as continuing life-long learning. It gives me strength and secures my faith. To practice Jyotish is an honour and sometimes a burden, but always 'Heaven Sent'. The 'material rewards' can be many and varied. Some may desire food on the table, others are motivated by pure alturism, some desire jewel encrusted swords, drugs, prostitutes and other 'stuff'. To thine own self be true. Yes indeed! To the spark of the Divine within each and everyone of us. Om Tat Sat Ann.
Guest guest
Very admirable, Ann. But, I want to make sure it is understood that I don't mean you MUST charge for teaching, only that nothing wrong with it in my opinion. As I said, I never charge for teaching Aikido. But then, I only accept certain students. So I think it is with many "spiritual" arts instructors. Western society, I think, in particular has a flaw in it that makes people believe something has no value unless it is paid for. Of course, the students I accept in my Aikido classes realize that they are indeed "paying" for the knowledge I help them achieve in their own sweat and the good they do in their lives.
