My Irish drum (Bodhran) has a skin head (poor goat) which is supposed to be

limp and dull sounding.

 

However, all Bodhran players in America know you have to spray them with

water to losen them up here. They get tight and high sounding here, due to

the air being dry.

 

So I was always spraying it, to loosen it up.

 

Recently I got a cool myst humidifier for my apartment, to see if that

helped me. I also got a Hepa filter Ionizer. You know, gotta find the cure,

was the name of the game.

 

Well, the drum is now always nicely dull and limp, from the moisture in the

air, which is imperceptable to me personally. The drum is a barometer of air

humidity, in other words.

 

Now if this dead goat skin is responding, I know it's true. My air is no

more moist, in my apartment.

 

So it's affecting me too, since I live here too, and I have a dead skin

wrapped around me too so to speak, you know, the outer layers can be pretty

dry on some of us sometimes, right?

 

When the drum head is dry, it's very TIGHT and HIGH sounding. Ding.

 

When it's moist it's loose and low sounding. Thunk.

 

So, guess what, YOU may be all tight and dry, or moist and low.

 

Who wants to be "uptight"

 

These cool humidifers are just constantly "drying off" a cloth like element

inside them. They just blow air onto this wet sponge, which by drying

constantly, place humidity into the air. It's not making hot myst at all.

It's just a fan and wet sponge, water tank, etc. It's EXACTLY THE SAME as

drying a towel say, by hanging it in the room.

 

So I suggest people think about this, at least here in America where it's

dry, at least on the West Coast it's dry, even here in Oregon amazingly

enough, where it's year round green.

 

This can really affect you, lungs, skin, eyes, attitude, all the things you

own, especially your plants.

 

The hepa filter and myster combo has changed the feel in the room, I admit.

It is noticably more dust free, which is very nice to be in.

 

I live by a road, so dust and particulate pollution abound. The computer

create the wrong kind of ions, so the heppa filter and ionizer fixes that.
