Guest guest
All, Someone asked about the issue of when one's findings from Palmistry differ from what one finds from the chart. This is what I have to say about it. I think that the two are one and the same. There is no differentiation. Palmistry demonstrates the efficacy of Astrology, and the keen Palmist will not even need to refer to a chart, because he/she can see the planetary combinations from the hands alone. I don't consider myself to a skilled palmist; I have a basic knowledge of the subject. However, on the basis of this, I have been able to greatly augment my Astrological skills. For example, one day in class, as I was giving a lecture on Astrology, I mentioned the fact that Palmistry is one of Astrology's Sister Sciences. I said that often, just knowing what the fingers mean can give the keen Astrologer great clues to a person's character without even looking at the chart. To demonstrate, I used a lady sitting in the front row of my class - she had a large opal and silver ring on both of her rings fingers and silver bands on her thumbs. On the basis of this, I said that she must have had "man" problems, particularly older men. She gasped out loud and nearly fell out of the chair! She just glared at me for the rest of the class, and afterward, she demanded that I do her horoscope. I met her at her home a few days later, for the next 3 hours, I listened to her as she spilled her life story - which had to do with an enormous drama about her family life, her lack of a loving relationship with her father, and her many relationships with attached, significanlty older men. The ring fingers represents Saturn, the planet of age and authority, and the thumbs represent the planet Mars, which always rules over men. Both are natural malefics, and since those fingers were so prominent on this woman's hands, I simply blened the symbolisms of the two planets and made the comment. I was dead on. I have Venus in the Asc, which, according to Parasara, gives, among other things, skills in the art of bed pleasures. If you look at either of my hands, I have very large Mounts of Venus - a clear signal to any woman that knows Palmistry of very high sex drive and virility, passion and so forth. The lines on the Palm are also very important, especially if they are broken or very faint. Deep, clearly marked lines on the palms usually indicate a strong personality. The rare but very important combination known as Visha Kanya is a clear example of how closely Palmistry and Astrology exist. VK can be found by either inspecting the palm, which should be very pale, almost yellowish, with very faint lines; the lines going round the wrists clearly marked, and the hand and fingers should be very narrow and long. The Astrological way of assessing VK is whenever a girl is born on certain Naksatras, while at the same time, also born on certain Tithis and Weekdays. Such a combination is said to literally kill her husband, and while that can still happen today, the more likely thing to happen is that the girl will be the cause of much pain and suffering to her significant other's life, often through her own ill-health, and/or drug addictions. All in all, Palmistry is a great friend to Astrology, and it is no accident that you would find Jyotishis in India that you will inspect your hand before your chart. Just learning the basics of it, as I have, will greatly assist anyone in their pursuit of Jyotish.
