Guest guest
Das's recent poetry inspired me to write a poem to my 3 sons, which I wrote yesterday and today without good punctuation, meter, and rhythm, oh well! This exerpt is for you, GJ list's special family. I was raised in the Christian tradition so my approach is based upon what i learned; please, everyone, feel free when reading this to substitute your own words and ideas where you think they should go. You can probably write better poetry, too...! (Thank you, dear listmember who called Das, for your help to Das. Your kindness to Das, and the many prayers our listmembers are praying, helps all of us.) a mother's poem: But have faith in God, to Him be true Is all that I know...God bless you! God keep you safe, God help you learn the happiness in living is that which you earn through the efforts you make in doing a labor of love for God's sake in helping your neighbor In doing for others you do for yourself God brings you His blessings right from Himself For "what ye do unto the least of these" Is your gift to God you place at His knees And this is the reason He gave you your life: Be kind to each other, heal sickness and strife, Give food to the starving, comfort the cries of those who are lost, and see not God's Eyes, And tell them they're loved Forever and ever, Or the Lord God above Would have created us, never The goodness within is all one need start with, So magnify goodness, never to part with the knowledge that love you give out is a gift that returns to its giver his spirits to lift When miracles happen right out of the blue, You'll know it's God's Love, His blessing to you Repaying for all the good that you've done, Your place in God's heart assuredly won. And each like a link in an unbroken chain Will sing of God's glory again and again. When my earth life has passed I'll still be around to hear when you make a joyful sound, I'll still be right with you the times when you cry, I'll still be there loving you and hoping that I could point you back to these words I now give, That you shall be comforted as long as you live. And when your time comes to join up with me, How proud and how happy we both will be, Embracing each other, no sadness, just mirth For the love that we gave while living on earth And the love we expressed to us and to others Was God's gift to us, our sisters and brothers. His mercy always, to us did avail When lovingly we followed His Path of travail And happily took the burdens He gave Making light of our duties, up to the grave Where true freedom delights, earthly woes cease And Love is the Light that now bringeth peace. Know that I'm happy and love you always I'll never forget you all of my days. I'll be in your dreams, and there's where I'll tell you God's heaven is much better than hell; That hell is only the state of one's mind when self interest overpowers the goodness you find in all of God's Creation, it's there to be found. Turn away from the negative! God's all around! Wrapping you gently up in His Arms He'll lift up your sorrows, remove all the harms That you thought were real, That couldn't be fixed! God can do anything; "impossible" is nixed! Faith CAN move mountains, I've tried it, you see, And God gave me miracles, more than just 3. He gave me a life and I paid for past sins He gave me a new life, living with Him. So I'll watch then I'll act and appear in your dreams As proof of the fact life's not what it seems; It goes on forever beyond and above Be comforted now sweet ones, you are loved.
