Guest guest
Good points Renee. I remember dating a guy from Peru who said to me one day that in South America there is no distinction between different races, only between nationalities there..I also remember hearing an interview on NPR about a black American male going to Brazil and at first he too thought there was no distinction made--on the surface, that's true, then, late he learned the subtley of it..there was some different treatment, but it was very subtle.. The thing about mixing it up is it strenthens the gene pool. Breeds out weird stuff like Tay-Sachs and sickle cell... I remember too, watching a wman attorney who had decided to study the welfre system in Europe for some reason--they have totally different attitudes about it there--and by the way folks, know how much of your tax dollar would actually go to a welfare program in the US? About 1 and half to three cents per dollar. and out of that, a hefty portion goes to pay the worker, not the TANF recipient.. Okay so back to what I was trying to write: the attorney decided the reason that we have such a crappy view of taking care of families--rememver in Europe women have up to 7 years to say home with the family and get paid for it--the reason we're not keen of this is...they think of their populations as homogenous--get it? They think of their people as white soit's okay to take care of the latger family, so to speak, , while we think of welfare people as black goof-offs, even though statstically speaking they are mostly white women--and abused women at that...Then there's that little thing about us paying for Eurpoe's military ina big way..so our tax dollars go to arms manufacturers and thento the military. Right now, no one is going to be upset with that, given out frined Osama--i'm saying we spend differently than the Europeans..c` I wish when we paid out taxes, that we got to decide where the money went..I wonder how much of it would go where? Even a national survey on the nex tax form on this would be fun, and enlightening, I think.. Please forgive my typos--I don't have my contacts in.. Best Wishes, D.
