Guest guest
It is 5:48 am on 3 July 2002, somewhere in England. After some 30 minutes digesting this thought I have decided to put it into writing. Lets see how it comes out. This is how I understand Vedic astrology to be. Vedic astrology is a divine science and therefore we cannot manipulate it with our imperfect senses or false ego. The less false ego we have the more we will be given to understand from a divine science. At the same time, Vedic astrology is like a purifying fire, which will correct our imperfections the more we are exposed to it. The soul is transcendental by nature but when reincarnated in a material body becomes bewildered and contaminated by the lower energies of matter to the point of identifying himself with matter. In this way, the soul becomes limited by a duality of extremes, cold/hot, dark/light, left/right, high/low, back/forward, black/white, and life/death. It is just a perception, which can be tainted by the modes of nature, according to our degree of spiritual advancement. >From my Guru Maharaja’s writings I have understood that the object of the senses are in the mode of tamas (ignorance), the senses are in the mode of rajas (passion), and our perception is in the mode of satva (goodness). But I do understand that we should purify our perception in order to have a proper conception. The improper conception will be to identify our self with the object of the senses, because the objects are just like shadows of reality, (Rahu); they only have a life because our consciousness has focus his attention to them. However, the proper conception will tell us that we are not the objects, we are spiritual soul, the subjects, and the super-subject is God. We should take help of anything that can elevate our consciousness from tamas into satva and beyond it, to that region which is not under the grasp of the 3 modes of nature. Rare souls have reached the plane above the gunas, the material modes of nature. Those souls have the intention of guiding us out of this plane of misconception. Therefore, lets be receptive to their selfless guidance. Food in the mode of satva can help us to be satvic, and food in the mode of tamas can take us down to the plane of misconception. Milk products, fresh vegetables, fresh fruits and grains are in the mode of satva. Meat products, fish, eggs or stale food, are in the mode of tamas. Charity is in the mode of satva, but beware because charity to the proper source is in satva, to open schools or hospitals is a charity in the mode of passion, and charity to a person that misuses the intention in spending it in gambling, illicit activities or intoxication, is in tamas and therefore we are likely to suffer a bad reaction by given that charity. It is 6:30 am. Best wishes Natabara Das
