Guest guest
Dear Cynthia Interesting post .As usual you raise some good points . I have found that you are correct. Rahu is good for work. I have also found that Rahu with Mars is particularly good. It seems to manifest as desire for success. Yes Rahu seeks after worldly success ,fame and acclaim .He is immersed in materiality after all he enters the scriptures because of his desire to be immortal. Some Pandits not without reason opine that noone gives benefits like Rahu does ..If Rahu is well placed and it's dispositor is strong it is like it exponentially improves the chart . That said because he is a malefic there are twists in the plot . I have also found that the Rahu period tends to bring success then failure for many. This may be a cultural manifestation. I am a professional astrologer in the US. The ancient texts give Rahu Mars a very bad assessment .So I do not think this is just a US phenomena . What I have found is that the native may have great success if the chart promises success. Then he loses himself (his soul?) to it and the success fall through his fingers. I can think of 2 extreme cases. One man literally became a millionaire during his Rahu period in real estate. He was so greatly extended that when the market fell in the 80's he lost all and came home to find his wife was dead: she shot herself. When success comes through manipulation then it's foundation is insecure .Rahu according to Bhagavat Purana wanted to be immortal so he disguised himself as a Demigod .He got to drink the nectar of immortality but had his body severed from his head .He was elevated to the position of planetary controller ( which is normally not allowed for the demons) and achieved immortality but without a body .So a Rahu period may act similarly in giving great benefits but with a twist . If we use deceit to get something that would not normally be ours (just as Rahu did) it may come with a twist or maybe unstable or very imperanent .One might cheat but there is always the risk of being caught as Rahu did by Surya and Candra .At any rate there is the anxiety of being caught and fame can quickly turn to imfamy as we have seen with Bernie Ebbers . He came to live on the streets and was helped by the kindness of others. The years passed and he helped a man build a business which was sold 1-2 years ago and again became a very wealthy man. When I did the session with him, he taught me about the extremes of Rahu. How he learned the value of people and present time. This time, when he again became wealthy, he started a foundation for children in African and the last I heard was very active in it on a national and international level. It seems his secon attempt at being wealthy has a more sound foundation being based on a business that provides something genuine for its clients rather than trying to profiteer on the basis of stock market or real estate booms and busts .. Robert Kiyosaki the author of the Rich Dad Poor Dad books always stresses the need for charity amongst those who are financially successful .He argues that one's schemes to be rich collapse without the charitable disposition .In India the wealthy are always concientious on this point .Believing in the law of karma they know that their wealth is coming from activities in previous lifetimes .They are careful to invest for future lives . Another man in Rahu period was a millionaire from stock in 2000 and struggles to make ends meet today. He recognizes that he was in his words "greedy" and is trying to discover how to again become wealthy. My own Rahu period (Rahu in the 12th) was not financially successful at all! So it is not a universal. The house, as I am sure you, but perhaps not all readers, know. In many cases Rahu periods produce a lot of frustration .This can lead to some deep soul searching and eventually coming to a higher understanding . Those who gain wealth and fame and have it taken away may also end up doing some serious soul searching .So although not directly spiritual Rahu can be transformative towards the spiritual . This is why I view the Rahu success with great trepidation. i see clients with much less dramatic stories consumed with wealth and they seem to lose it in order to learn from the experience. Wealth and fame are ultimately temporary and so they should be used for the benefit of others or for Godly purposes .The old saying is be nice to people on the way up and they will be nice to you on the way down . Have you found that also in your work? Perhaps this is an American manifestation of the Rahu period. The current scandals in the US financial world are on a big scale because of the size of the US economy but down here in Oz we had a few corporate cowboys in the 80s and a couple of large (by the size of our economy) corporate crashes recently .Each generation of financial tycoons seems to find a different way to cheat others .It is said in Srimad Bhagavatam that Kali resides where excess money is stored so again the troubles America is having are not specifically a cultural phenomena . The characteristics of Rahu were written down long before Christopher Columbus. Still any claims of the superiority of the American way are likely to be treated with a grain of salt nowadays . Kind regards Nicholas
