<<they said that our north star moves in an uneven manner>>

me

According to the Vedas, the pole star is like the pivot holding the lower

planetary systems in their circular dance.

Above the Pole star there are the higher planetary systems

We have to realise that every culture gives us a different concept of the

universe according to their understanding. A materialistic culture like the

present one, and based on petrol to run its engines and machinery,

characteristic of the Iron age or Kali Yuga, is likely to generate greed and

lies. Therefore a tamasic misconception is expected from it.

Although our scientists and politicians may tell us a picture of the structure

of the cosmos, it is not necessarily the right one, because we know well that

they are not situated on the mode of goodness, from where they could achieve a

right conception of things.

>From the Bhagavad Gita (the Vedic Bible) we see how the 3 modes of nature; tamas

(inertia, ignorance), rajas (passion, movement), and satva (goodness, kindness,

peace), are manipulating the material energy, that even our belief system can

be recognised as a product of those gunas, or modes of nature.

See the following from the Bhagavad Gita As It Is, by Srila Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada.

"TEXT 13 Chapter 7

tribhir guna-mayair bhavairebhih sarvam idam jagatmohitam nabhijanatimam ebhyah param avyayam

WORD FOR WORD tribhih -- three; guna-mayaih -- consisting of the gunas; bhavaih

-- by the states of being; ebhih -- all these; sarvam -- whole; idam -- this;

jagat -- universe; mohitam -- deluded; na abhijanati -- does not know; mam --

Me; ebhyah -- above these; param -- the Supreme; avyayam -- inexhaustible.

TRANSLATION Deluded by the three modes [goodness, passion and ignorance], the

whole world does not know Me, who am above the modes and inexhaustible.

>From chapter 14, texts 17-18-19

"TRANSLATION From the mode of goodness, real knowledge develops; from the mode

of passion, greed develops; and from the mode of ignorance develop foolishness,

madness and illusion.

"TRANSLATION Those situated in the mode of goodness gradually go upward to the

higher planets; those in the mode of passion live on the earthly planets; and

those in the abominable mode of ignorance go down to the hellish worlds.

"TRANSLATION When one properly sees that in all activities no other performer is

at work than these modes of nature and he knows the Supreme Lord, who is

transcendental to all these modes, he attains My spiritual nature.

Although the 5th Canto of the Srimad Bhagavatam try to describe to us about the

structure of the universe, it is difficult to grasp the whole concept as it is,

because our education is tamasic, and therefore we are conditioned to understand

only tamasic products.

But the Maha Purana says that below the Pole star there are the celestial

planets, (the 7 stars, Sun, Moon, Saturn etc, the Earthly plane, the hellish

planets and the Garbhodaka Ocean. Above the pole star there are the higher

planetary systems called Maharloka, Janaloka, Tapoloka and Satvaloka where Lord

Brahma has his planet Brahmaloka.

The Mahapurana narrates as well how Krishna gave to Druva Maharaja, the position

to live and manage from the Pole star.

Among the original natives of now Mexico, the Pole star was represented with the

face of a monkey. In 1972 I did visit the pyramid of Cholula, in Mexico, and I

could see on a wall, the face of a monkey directed towards the north as if to

indicate the Pole star.

Best wishes
