Someone is sending out email supposedly from our names, with attached viruses, and I suspect it is the person using "om (AT) bomship (DOT) com" email address since I have repeatedly asked that email address to discontinue sending viruses to us.....and my email is refused...while there was a time when that site kept bouncing emails back to me saying there is no "Lonnie (AT) bomship (DOT) com" address, and when I wrote the site decribing how to from GJList, it wouldn't do that. I'm thinking we have a disgruntled r who wants us to get viruses rather than merely himself from our list. Hopefully, most of us have software that's up to date regarding viruses....but if not, please, everybody, do not accept attachments from our list, no matter how intriguing the email sounds, unless that attachment is fully described by the sender so you know precisely what it is. If it's a short description with a mysterious note such as , "I thought you might like this!" or "I found this neat program for you!" then you can discard it as being a virus--(or write to the sender for a detailed description before you will open the attachment).....since virus emails will not actually tell you what you are about to receive. I have Symantec regularly updated but the number of viruses it is catching from this list is beyond a coincidence. Most of your posts are way over my head, but I'm trying to learn in spite of this. Regarding the virus that's been coming through this group: I believe the sender probably isn't even aware he/she has the virus in the first place. I've had several friends over the years who had viruses on their computers and didn't know it. I really doubt we're dealing with a disgruntled r. There are many folks on the net who are new to computers, who don't understand what viruses are and how they work. If you use a virus protection program, you won't even have to concern yourself with the email subject line, as a good virus program will snag the virus when you're downloading your email. The original intent of virus creator is to get it out to infect/damage/cause trouble to/ as many computers as possible, the more the better. Until the real culprit is found, one may assume our listmembers are not at fault, but unwitting victims of an annoying and destructive scheme. However, I am firmly convinced that our list's virus attack originated and continues to be sent from that "om@bomship" email address. Om bomship woud point to it either being by an Indian, or directed against Indians sd Indian culture, then wouldn't it? Mailer Daemon, I believe is a mailing system or mail routing system, used by to send out the mail, among others. Dear Denise, Yes, it would tend to appear that way...and the virus could have been created by a Tahitian or an Icelander or an Amazonian for all I know,....and then sent out for dispersal from this omship site. Fact is, that site would not reply to several different emails I sent to it in the past year. I have asked about the viruses we've received from their site, and copied to them the strange messages sent to several of us from a "Lonnie" name at that website. Any other site--gives a polite reply. At least after a number of different attempts to get their attention. Not this one. This site sends viruses galore and zero replies to inquiring emails!
