Guest guest
Dear All Do you use Rahu and Ketu as Jaimini karakas? If yes, would you give an example interpretation of them as atmakaraka and darakaraka so I can get a feel for it? I was taught to only use the planets and the luminaries, so I am very interested. Would the soul's nature, if Rahu were atmakaraka, be avaricious? Would this be something to develop or to overcome? Am I all wrong? Guest guest
Vyam Vysadevaya Namah --------------- Dear Cynthia, They are called Chara Karakas, and don't have the name of any sage attributed to them. There are 8 chara karakas, excluding Ketu, acording to Parasara and Jaimini.. Why this is so, is a different discussion.. some only use 7 Chara Karakas you see. to find out which Karaka Rahu is, subtract 30 degrees from its position, then compare to the rest of the grahas. Atma-Karaka means, Soul-Doer, and the graha becoming so, has the responsibility of teaching you about god, and the truth about this universe. The planet becoming Chara Atmakaraka will teach you about god, through its natural characteristics. i.e. Mars will teach you to stop fighting, Mercury will make sure you be more aware of your long tongue, Sun will make you humble, and Rahu will teach you who to trust, as one is prone to deception.. When Rahu becomes AK then all the evil indicated by Rahu, is used to bring you closer to god!! what a lovely situation, when we are taught about all the evil karma in the world, only to be thrown at the gate of Maheswara. Notable personalities with Rahu as AK; Paramahamsa Yogananda, Ramakrishna Paramahamsa & Srila Prabhuda. Whether one should overcome Rahu, depends on how it will act for you. If Rahu is Lagna lord, then it will be so. If not, then you maybe decieved by others. Hope this helps for starters, Best wishes, Visti. - cynthia novak gjlist Saturday, June 08, 2002 3:53 PM Re: [GJ] ReAtmakaraka Dear All Do you use Rahu and Ketu as Jaimini karakas? Guest guest
Dear Visti you << Atma-Karaka means, Soul-Doer, and the graha becoming so, has the responsibility of teaching you about god, and the truth about this universe. When Rahu becomes AK then all the evil indicated by Rahu, is used to bring you closer to god!! what a lovely situation, when we are taught about all the evil karma in the world, only to be thrown at the gate of Maheswara.>> me Thank you very much for your explanation which is very good. However, i would here like to add my perspective. Atmakaraka comes from the words atma = soul and karaka - natural indicator. Just like planets are karakas or natural indicators for things, like Ketu being the moksakaraka (indicator of liberation), so the atmakaraka is the natural indicator of the soul. I prefer myself to follow the 8 atmakarakas rather than the 7 as you have said that some astrologers do. The 7 atmakarakas are taken from the 7 "normal" planets, and the 8 atmakarakas are taken from the 8 planets which include Rahu. Ketu is excluded because Rahu and Ketu are considered as one entity. Rahu being the head and Ketu being the tail. During the main period, sub-period and sub sub period of the atmakaraka lord, in the Vimshottari system of dividing life into planetary periods, life becomes very intensive. In fact a Jataka says that "during the sub period of the atmakaraka lord, the native loses everything". We have to be careful about the literary translation of Sanskrit words. In fact, anybody can study there past sub periods of planets ruled by the atmakaraka lord, and remember what happen during that particular time. In my own experience, the atmakaraka bukti or sub periods of the atmakaraka lord, changed the direction of my life in a drastically but positive way. I feel that we are wandering like blind people, we do not have a clue about what or where our real benefit is. We think that we are the controllers, the masters of our own life, but in reality we are humans and as humans we are prone to err. Because more than less, we are prone to walk on the wrong direction, the atmakaraka periods, come to make sure that we go back to our destined track, where life has a better direction in tune with our destiny. We cannot change our destiny, we should better follow our destiny and we will cope better. That is way people consult astrologers, because astrologers are supposed to give them advise about what their destiny says. Regarding the personality of the atmakaraka planets, i like to think in terms of what Parasara says about the planets at the beginning of his Brihat Parasara Hora Sastra. God incarnates in the planets to chastise or reward the souls according to their deeds. Therefore, Rama is the Sun; Krishna is the Moon; Narashimha is Mars; Budha is Mercury; Vamana is Jupiter; Parasurama is Venus; Kurma is Saturn; and Varaha is Rahu. See BPHS, chapter 2. It will help to read about those incarnations from the Srimad Bhagavatam, and meditate on them to get the felling of what your atmakaraka means. Their personality and mission is connected to the meaning of those atmakarakas. Best wishes Natabara Das
Guest guest
Dear Visti, Can you suggest a book or a website with resources on Jaimini's aphorisms for beginners. I had read the Raman's book on Jaimini sutras but I don't find all the concepts discussed here or the Jaimini yogas explained in it. The Charadasa book by KN Rao, I found again, difficult to read for concept development. thanks in advance. gjlist, "Visti Larsen" <vishnu@l...> wrote: > Vyam Vysadevaya Namah > --------------- > Dear Cynthia, > They are called Chara Karakas, and don't have the name of any sage attributed to them. > > There are 8 chara karakas, excluding Ketu, acording to Parasara and Jaimini..
