Guest guest
Amazing the level of prejudice and misconception here....comments below...>>> das (AT) goravani (DOT) com 06/06/02 11:40AM >>>About FBI ComputersAfter FBI is blamed for blowing it re. 9/11 Attacks[you]Specifically, over the years I have heard many conspiracy theories because in and around astrology and Hinduism there are always many who wish to tell grand stories of present big brother and impending world controls by the big boys. [me] Yeah...just go down the street and get on the i-predict list and see how this is perpetuated across a so-called astrology list. Disgusting. [you]I have a hard time believing these theories based on my experiences with corporations and computers. Then, based on my experience with government servants on all levels, these two combine to say the following: [me] Witnessing 'inferred' slam on ALL gov't servants? A little contempt here? [you]Nobody in any government institution has any real interest in doing anything really intelligent unless it furthers their career and often, innovation and intelligence and centralization are extremely unpopular and cause mid level job shifts, ie, your bosse's job, so, you stay quiet. [me] This is really obnoxious and beneath a so called spiritual person. Judgement calls and you don't know every gov't servant (actually where I come from it's called a PUBLIC SERVANT because some of us actually DO serve the public and NOT big brother) across the United States...do you? And no...not all of us keep our mouths shut out of fear. Give me a break. Some of us actually do say things to try to help the 'system' evolve. YOU might not see it but you aren't omniscient and omnipresent, are you? I could care less about a 'career'. My goal is to help the public that I serve and has been for the last fifteen years while I watched others climb the ladder to their particular goals. I like the trenches. [you]Also, government servants are "secure" types by nature and therefore not really good with cutting edge computer technology. [me] Where in the world did you get this one? So none of us have been exposed to cutting edge technology because we're 'secure' types therefore we don't read and learn and get educated? Somehow we're in that 'cave' and never 'get out' (even with a caseload of 150 families...my my) to see an insecure computer type person? <grin> Try my life for the last 40 years and maybe you might see that it was ANYTHING but SECURE. Public programs are funded by federal and state monies and could disappear in a flicker of an eye so no one that works for such programs are 'secure' by any means. [you] When I hear of their computer woes, I am very surprised because so much is possible and obviously they do not have it together at all. [me] Like who does? This is human-ville....right? Very few, if any, have their entire act together, capiche? [you] You think they can watch you, but apparently, they cannot even watch the worst of all, what to speak of little nobodies. [me] Right...the impression I'm getting here while you slam all gov't officials is that ALL of us are supposed to be on the lookout for 'the worst of all' whatever that is. MOST of us do not have this job, dear, and are not in such arena's of even being CLOSE to such a job description. So call a spade a spade and slam the specific gov't dept you seem to have a thing for and not ALL departments. Fair is fair. [you]Their computers literally "suck". I can't say it any other way. [me] I'm looking at my computer and I don't think it sucks. I'm not an illiterate either. Too bad .... with your high intelligence you can't find an appropriate and non-inflammatory description for that particular word you used up there. [you] They do not have full text retrieval search capability across all departments with classification levels honored, yet this would be very possible today, and for awhile now. This is the big brother building par excellence and they are playing micky mouse. This is a much more real finding to me than the conspiracy theories I've heard. [me] Maybe the real culprit are the people that perpetuate such big brother theories like the feeding frenzied media all across the world....and NOT necessarily all gov't employees or officials. Think about it. [you]Pearl Harbor shows a similar flaw in the "American Way". We CAN do alot, but we're lazy, especially in government in general. [me] Gee...I thought that was a human flaw....guess that's too much like right, eh? [you]I think I can safely say, sadly, and I find it over and over, that intelligence is sadly lacking in general, in my society at least. [me] Then why are you living here? If you don't like it here....gee...why do you stay and deign to grace the U.S. with your exalted presence? Your contempt for all of us precedes you, truly. [you]So, I write this, to make a point: To those who propound conspiracy theories which include really astute government computer systems snooping around, I have news for you. They are mostly fictional. [me] I knew that and I work for the gov't. DUH. An agency or business is only as good as the sum of its parts and since we're all HUMAN...there is no perfect business/agency/government/nation....etc. [you] I thought this about Y2K and was right, because I knew correcting that problem in large companies was cake and highly doable by deadline time. No problems occured. Now hear again. [me] And if you remember correctly, who flipped out about the Y2K thing and perpetuated that lunacy that I ignored the whole time? The MEDIA. Everytime something happens, they leap upon it and rip it apart. For instance, we had some kid killed or whatever here in California recently and all of the sudden we are now hearing of every kid in the U.S. that is missing, killed, snatched, touched, molested...you name it. Like give it a rest. A fire breaks out of control and it's like the first time there's ever been a fire here in FIRE COUNTRY. An earthquake occurs and OH MY GOD...we have to do the earthquake preparedness crap for like months on end. This IS earthquake country. Funny but most native californian's used to be laid back and easy going but they all left when midwest and easterners moved here and took over. The media is to blame for all kinds of crap that is maya...delusion...to the max. [you] My knowledge base tells me that there are too many idiots in the world, so that implementing intelligent computer systems is very difficult. [me] No s*** Sherlock....did you just wake up or what? Most of the world is not exactly in the 160 and above I.Q. level so we have to approach everyone in a user friendly attitude. [you]People should be as efficient and together as astronauts. But they're not. Most people are in a daze, unhealthy, very bad specimans of humanity. It's sad, but true. [me] And so I guess YOUR karma is to learn to deal with being human....with imperfect fellow citizens. You haven't graduated yet and neither have any of us here so while we're here we have to make the best of it and learn to treat each other with less contempt. Just because someone is not up to your level does not mean they are worthless or 'not worthy' of your time, attention, affection, whatever. You are your brother's keeper if you are a spiritually minded individual, right? Maybe not in your lingo but certainly in mine. [you]Computers can do so much, but few can understand how to harness that power. They don't have the focus. It does take tremendous energy. I understand. No blame. But don't expect it in government servant cubicle land. No way. Nobody changes anything in those places. Status Quo...ad nauseum. [me] There's an old saying that I may not have correct here (excuuuuuuuse me for being human) but it goes something like "My great- grandfather rode a camel, my father drives a car, I fly a plane, my grandson will fly the space shuttle....my great grandson will ride a camel" meaning that all things will cycle eventually. Thank God for that:o) [you]Isn't this right on target with these transits? [me] Saturn/Pluto judgement calls? Yup...I agree. Wonder if he thinks all gov't workers also eat meat. Oi Vay. Guest guest
About FBI Computers After FBI is blamed for blowing it re. 9/11 Attacks I worked in putting large computer networks into business in the late eighties and early nineties. I experienced over and over the kinds of things that are going on right now with the FBI. As I listen to the congressional questioning of the FBI director on their computer systems in the FBI, I am repeatedly made aware that I am again correct in my initial feelings. Guest guest
>>> 06/06/02 12:37PM >>> Well well Renee, how did I get your Irish up? I mean, you do have it in for me these days don't you. [me] Aren't we exaggerating again? Two email's and I have it in for you after being on your list for a long long time. I don't think so. No Irish blood here. Try Hispanic fire:o) [you] I can undo all your protests in one swoop: [me] I doubt it.... [you] You did this the other day too, talking about how I generalized all Hindus. Yes, I generalize. Get used to it. [me] Simply because you say so? I think not:o) [you] When you read stuff like what I write, you either agree or disagree with the overall impact. That's the way that goes. The overall message of my post was "Hey, we can probably relax on big brother theories" That's about it. It was just meant to be a fun way of saying that. It was me doing coffee break and shooting the breeze. [me] Sounded much more contemptuous then that. Whatever happened to sensitivity and getting out of one's self? [you] You know though, I get tons of flack for being me, always wherever I go, it seems. Soon as I speak up, it causes waves. This is a big part of why I'm always alone I'm sure. Many like it, but some don't. Renee my dear, you are my current accussor excellenté. [me] I get flack for being me too, hun, so I'm very aware of what it feels like. I have my style and you have yours. If one tells everyone to 'deal with it' most often one will find themselves 'alone' <grin>. Accussor Excellente' ? How very creative, m'dear! [you] See, I can't spell. Definitely Celt. Moon in Aquarius. Yep. Low Class. [me] Moon in Gemini....allrighty then. [you] Moon in Satabish, cut off from everyone in a circle- could it be memories of Alesia that causes that (the romans builts a circular fort around the Celtic army trapping them, which is like Satabish's function). [me] How very loving of you. Moon in Rohini here:o) Watch out for those traps. Sometimes one can trap one's self ya know. [you] Renee, wahhhhhh, be nice to me. I'm innocent. Just a big generalizor. [me] Feigning innocence? "But I didn't weally mean it...pwease forgive me" LOL [you] Wahh, wahh, I apawogize. Can we be fwends again? -- [me] Friends? Isn't that a dirty word these days? Keep your friends close but keep your enemies even closer:o) Just kidding....hehe Renee

I can undo all your protests in one swoop: My dear, I write for effect. It's not journalism. It's what we call entertainment commentary, kindof like Rush Limbaugh (barf). You see, if everyone spoke perfectly, correctly, with balance and fairness, then nobody would wake up the idiots who can't hear such eloquence. We all have our places dear. You are slamming me quite accurately. All your points are correct, and show my errors, if you think I was serious in my generalizations. I wasn't trying to be scientific.
