Choosing parents

I would like to clarify your statement. There are some people that claim that

we choose our parents. In my opinion, my answer to them has been that yes and

not.

 

We choose our parents by our karma. Or in other words, according to the

activities done in a previous life, we are given parents that are going to help

us to develop our karma in this life.

 

We can say that we do not choose our parents, but that higher authorities do

that for our best karmic development.

 

It is similar to choose a career. I do remember that in high school, the

students of the first degree were divided in several groups. My group went to

a different curse each month. I was 11 years old and therefore i did do not

know what was better for me.

 

In the first month my group went to drawing class; next month we went to the

mechanic workshop; next month we went to the carpentry workshop, next was the

tin workshop, where we were supposed to make in a month a can complete with a

base and a top, all in aluminium. We had to cut the sheet to the needed size,

fold the body for the can, join it, make its base, and make the top.

 

According to how much we advanced in the can, we were given points from our

tutor, from 0 to 10. Next, my group went to the electricity workshop and in

the end we went to the plastic arts workshop, were we were supposed to make a

perfect square with clay (it may sound easy to do, but believe me, it is a

difficult task).

 

My mother told me that 23 years before she went to the same high school and they

had the farrier workshop, but in my generation that knowledge was redundant

because of the lack of horses in our culture.

 

In the end, teachers used to asses our highest marks in those 6 workshops, and

come out with the advise of which workshop we should follow in the next 2

years.

 

Notice that because of our inexperience, higher authorities used to assess our skills or needs.

 

In a similar way, we do not choose our parents, they are chosen for us by higher authorities.

 

Once that we have got an horoscope, our parents can be seen from it, together

with other many factors that appear in our destiny.
