Guest guest
Hello everyone, Although, I addressed my question to Natabara, anyone should feel free to answer, or share their views. As I mentioned, I am still young, entering into this realm and am intrigued by this system. I am aware that the correct timing is important for a natal chart, but for all purposes, please assume that this is correct. Furthermore, I am aware that one can employ other Dasha systems, (and actually should if possible), to hone what they see in the charts. My intersts, at this time lie in going further with Vimshottari, as I find it used most often, and at least introduced to many interested in Jyotish. Questions and criticisms are most welcome, whether on or off the list. :> Best wishes, Nitin.
Guest guest
HELLO NITIN, There are 27 nakshatras, ashwini to revati. out of 360 degrees, each nakshatra occupies 13'20 degrees. Ashwini begins from 0 degrees ARIES and revati ends at the same spot ie 30 degrees PISCES. each of the 9 planets owns 3 nakshatras. The first nine nakshatras are owned by the following planets(in order)----ketu,venus,sun,moon,mars,rahu,jupiter,saturn,mercury. The next nine (and also the 9 following that) are owned by the same planets in the same order. The balance of dasha at birth is decided on the basis of the position of the moon in a nakshatra(a matter of ratio). FOR EXAMPLE--If the moon is half way into the nakshatra 'bharani(owned by venus)' ie 20 degrees aries, or 6'40 into 'bharani'--the balance of venus dasha at birth is 10 years. If the moon is three-fourth into 'bharani' ie 23'20 deg aries or 10 deg into 'bharani'--the balance of venus dasha at birth is 5 years. OOP'S SORRY,I SHOULD HAVE SAID THIS EARLIER----- the dasha periods allocated to the nine planets are as follows--- ketu------7 years venus----20 years**(above case) sun---6 yrs moon--10 yrs *TOTAL IS 120 YEARS. mars--7 y rahu--18 y jupiter---16 y saturn--19 yrs mercury--17 yrs NOW THE SUB-DASHAS---The first sub is BHUKTI DIVIDE the dasha into 120 parts and allocate periods to the different bhukties in the proportion of the years allocated to them above. FOR EXAMPLE--When venus dasha begins, the first 20 parts belong to venus bhukti, the next 6 parts belong to sun bhukti, the next 10 parts belong to moon bhukti and so on till ketu bhukti. Bhukties are further divided into antaras in the same way.--the first antara belonging to the bhukti itself. Thus you have--dasha-bhukti-antara-sookshma,and so on. BEST WISHES,VIVEK.
