DENIE: I'll agree with that one. What I didn't agree with in Vivek's statement was the business about following and believing blindly in astrology. Some one else has pointed out that to be told to follow blindly is a statment made by cult leaders all the time...I'm sure he didn't mean to sound like that, too. Not what he meant. And yes, astrology isn't a hard science to be sure. Consider it an art, consider it whatever you like, I have no problem with the terminology. And cool yoru husband is a statitian--if I can even spell the word. Gauquelin yes, worked with Olympic atheltes, because he thought to use people that excelled in their fields would make it easier for him to see trends. He also used WWII generals, writeres and artists, i think, if I can rememmber correctly. And the percentages were small indeed, (about 12% at minimum, instead of 8% in each house, which would have been if placement were random) And I'm sure you've seen that already. Yep, astrology does deal with a lot of grey areas --or maybe I should say there are a lot of ways of looking at the same chart, iaren't there? And it's going to vary from culture to culture, often. Guest guest
Dear Denie et al I'll never forget how proud I was to hand the Gauquelin books over to my then new sweetie, the statistician. He looked at the research and immediately discounted it because G. knew the occupations before he did the research therefore biasing he results. That is when I realized to try to attract "them" was not a good investment of my time and energy. (thus spoke my Saturn in the 10th) Once we had this little exchange. I told him: "You sold your soul to the cult called science." His response: "You are presuming that I had a commodity to sell." Great grins, and hopefully I have not just offended anyone. This relationship is very solid and we are so much alike in so many ways other than world vies <grins> that I have been able to learn where to put my energy and where to hold it. much appreciation for the dialogue sans venom. c - Denise Notley <venerablebede <gjlist> Thursday, May 16, 2002 7:44 AM [GJ] Re: IS IT TRUE?
