Rectifying birth-time

Dear Charles

I can tell you how I do this. I ask questions

1. was there anything unusual about your birth. This will appear in the 1st

house. An unusual physical appearance is also a great help in

rectification. A man swore to me that he was born around 6AM. Looking at

his unusual appearance and the planets in his chart I knew it must be around

6PM. Upon checking his birth certificate he wasshocked to find that I was

right, as he had always thought he was told it was just before 6am.

2. describe facial features, clues about the 2nd house.

3. learn the nakshatras. If it is between 2 very different ones, if you can

narrow it down to one, then you have narrowed down the time of day at least.

4. Ask about family life, did they move was it a peaceful and quiet life?

5. Use what you know, did the person move to another country? Did he almost

die? Early childhood illness that was severe?

Ask endless questions and then work with the dashas to refine. Sometimes

there is a big clue like a Rosetta stone in the answers. I've seen folks

with say Rahu or Ketu with Venus marry and divorce under the rahu or ketu

sub periods.

Try to Moon's chart and the Vim. dasha system. It is often very accurate.

If it is very accurate the moon is likely in the 1st.

The list goes on and on. The best way to learn to rectify well is to learn

to be a good astrologer. You have to know the bricks in the house before

you can take it apart and rebuild it. For finer points of rectification

(minutes rather than hours) watch the sub periods, these often are triggered

on the day they change and you can refine a birth time quite well,

Dear Cynthia - Thanks for your response. I feel that a lot of the confusion

I had about this aspect of Jyotish is starting to clear up. I have

undertaken one such case of an unknown birthtime at present and I will try

these techniques. I am especially enraptured by your suggestions about the

Chandra Lagna and Vimshottari Dasha system. I'll keep you posted on my

progress.

Take care,

Charles
