Guest guest
Dear Vivek you << I would like to know more about this. is it that the first decanate is ruled by the sign itself, the second and third are ruled by the signs fifth and ninth from it respectively?>> me Yes, you are right. I myself have drawn a wheel showing the 12 signs of the zodiac, the 36 drekkanas, the 27 naksatras or constellations, the 108 navamsas and the 144 dwadasamsas. Technically permitted i will post it on my web site later on. It helps to see the position of the planets in regard to the zodiac. And it helps as well to see the structure of zodiac and sub-divisions. I have seen in the museum of The Louvre in Paris or the British Museum at London, how the Egyptians represented the drekkanas or decanates in a wheel form around the zodiac. They called them decanates, which it means the same as in Sanskrit, divisions of 10° or 36 decanates X 10° = 360°. The drekkanas or decanates for each one of the 12 signs are: Aries Ar/Le/Sg Taurus Ta/Vi/Cp Gemini Ge/Li/Aq Cancer Cn/Sc/Ps Leo Le/Sg/Ar Virgo Vi/Cp/Ta Libra Li/Aq/Ge Scorpio Sc/Ps/Cn Sagittarius Sg/Ar/Le Capricorn Cp/Ta/Vi Aquarius Aq/Ge/Li Pisces Ps/Cn/Sc you <<You have mentioned that there are three signs per element.which three come under each?>> me There are 4 elements which are Fire, Earth, Air, and Water. From the table above you can see that under fire we have the signs of Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius. Earth element are the signs of Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn. Air signs are Gemini, Libra and Aquarius. And Water signs are Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces. you <<Sometimes it may be difficult to determine who is more powerful between sun and moon(say, both exalted or both debilitated)---is there a definite procedure for this?>> me In a Vedic horoscope, the planets can be very powerful when they are in their exaltation sign, powerful when they are in their own sign, strong when they are in their friendly sign, of middle energy when in a neutral sign, of low energy when in a enemy sign, or weak when in their debilitated sign. The way that i see the Sun and the Moon in the Vedic chart is to see the above description of power. However, when both luminaries have the same strength, i verify their strength in the navamsa chart and assess the stronger of those two. However, if both still are of equal strength, i do not have a definite procedure about it. Some astrologers may take the sadbala strength or other procedures but as far as i know, i draw a blank on this. Although we have been given as astrological rule to find out where are we come from, either from devaloka, pitriloka, tiryaloka or Yamaloka, it does not matter to. The rule implies to find out the stronger between the Sun and the Moon to see the details, but in my opinion, it does not matter. For some unknown reason, we have been born here and that is what is important. To have been a king or a beggar, it does not matter. We still have to sort out our karma out. We have been touring this material universe for donkey years, sometimes high and sometimes low, but the last goal is to get out of this cycle of reincarnations, because once that we get back to our last destination, we do not have to come back to repeat this materialistic cycle.
