Guest guest
Dear Chris, We had a case of a person where Guru is Neecha in 5th house and Retrograde Varghotama. After a fire accident(as per Jaimini Sutras), the person went mad, and no avail so far. Combust is not enough to bring madness, Combust Guru is just angry, a lot depends on Surya.. Guest guest
Hi there Zoran, Been away on holiday for a while. I must say, I am becoming intrigued by this discussion. Since I have Guru combust and in debilitation in rasi chart, it appears that I might go mad according to what is being discussed here, or I must be very angry at the very least. Since I am neither (to the best of my knowledge), I am interested to know more. Surely one must be careful *how* one describes such states of mind? For instance, in my navamsa, Guru is in exhaltation and I also have yogas which nullify some of the bad effects of combustion and debilitation in rasi. I am concerned that somebody might become worried who is reading this and who does not know that there are other conditions which have to be looked at as well. Could you outline for us those particular conditions that might prevent a person going mad? Guest guest
Hello Dear Maddalena, Zoran, Sonia Chris and Robyn, Dear Robyn, hope you had a great trip. Nice to have you back. I was going to respond to Chris' question but though better to leave for the experts and those with more experience. But of course the whole chart has to be considered and looked at and there are other indicators for someone to go mad such as the nodes combined with mind, etc. and again this all would have to have confluence for this in a chart. And definitely the nodes combined with Moon don't necessarily indicate this either and can indicate many other things completely different from this in individual charts. This is really much more complicated in looking for and would require more knowledge but as I'm sure Zoran is about to write himself, this condition of Jupiter to state this result is much too simplistic. A combust Jupiter would mean different things in different charts. Also when it is stated as combust, Jupiter is 'angry', this refers to the Avastas of a planet that is combust, not that the native will be angry. "A planet that is combust is said to be Kopa - Angry. Kopa also means the state of being in contradiciton with, or incompatible with. A planet is combust when it is in such close proximity to the sun that it becomes invisible. The Sanskrit name for this is Asta which means "setting."" This is copied directly from Ernst's book, 'Vault of the Heavens.' Guest guest
Hi there Patrice and everybody else, Well, whew! that's a relief. Nice to know I am not necessarily going mad. Despite a number of nasties in my chart with regard to the mind, I have made it through to this age relatively sane I think. *But* I am very interested in those factors which indicate disturbance of mind because in my seventh house is Rahu. 7th House owned by Jupiter has some horrible afflictions in it which have played out very well in my life and brought some very strange people into my life as well. Primarily those in whose charts Moon is closely conjunct Rahu and Mars and particularly in rasi of Sco and Gem. Obviously past life connections. A couple of these people were very powerful, famous and totally off the wall, so yes, I tend to look out for these signs first in a chart. I am particularly interested in Sarpa Drekkenas if anybody can enlighten me on this. Guest guest
Hi there again, For instance, Patrice, you might be interested in this chart I am looking at now. She is a brilliant, young journalist and writer with Taurus asc and Moon closely conjunct Ketu in 12th House. She has had a number of breakdowns already and a number of suicide attempts. She seems to be stabilizing now, but it has been quite a time with her. She holds two masters in english lit and journalism resp. and is now going onto to her phd. Any insights into this conjunction of Moon and Ketu for me? Guest guest
Hi Dear Robyn, Yes, I'd be interested in seeing this chart definitely. I'm trying to get back to the lists more this week but have been swamped since my brother's death and my daughter's appendix surgery and other things here. Please do post the data for this chart. We'd all like a good look at it! I am going to have to get off of here with Easter tomorrow and my family all eagerly awaiting me. I keep stealing minutes up here and my heart is always in such joy doing Jyotish! I would be interested in this data and please do share it with us. You have to see the whole chart to draw any real conclusions - or at least I do. As I said, nodes conjunct Moon can indicate other things as well. Das has written about this quite a bit on here too. Ketu is also Moksha Karaka and from my still beginner status I think a lot depends on the condition of this Ketu and then in this chart particularly the Moon and even how strong the Lagna is. Also, in this chart what is the condition of Mars as lord of 12H. All these things. In her chart it would be interesting also as 12H is karaka for hospitals but also Moksha, as you know. We could also look at the dasas and transits. Also, I've been wanting to share more regarding my brother's chart and death but haven't found the time yet. Jupiter had a definite role in his death too. I know Maddalena is also eager to hear what I learned regarding my brother's chart. I'm still hoping to get back to this soon while there is interest and with that interest much more can be learned. Great regards, Patrice Robyn wrote: For instance, Patrice, you might be interested in this chart I am looking at now. Guest guest
Dear Robyn, Thank you for your sweet words regarding my brother... Thanks also for the chart data. Got to run here. Just a very brief look: In rasi, 12th lord and 7th lord, Mars on the Ascendant. Ascendant lord in the 8H. And Moon is lord of the 3H with R Saturn with 7th house aspect on Lagnesh in 8th. Rahu in 6H in Libra, other house of Lagna lord Venus. I'm sure you have seen all this. No time now but I will look at this more asap. And Happy Easter to you as well, Patrice

Guest guest
Dear Zoran, Thank you, my point exactly. The discussion, however, made me think carefully about my combust Jupiter in Saturn's fifth house which is occupied by Me/Su/Ju/VeR. And, after reading Ernst's discussion in his book, it made me realise what had happened to this house. My father's creative brilliance and his need to show this, literally 'blasted' my own into non-existence as a young child, making it extremely difficult for me to manifest these energies early in my life. It was only later, once I had learnt to cope with his need for ego dominance, that I was able to break through and find my own way to express my creative urges hence the placement in kendra houses of Me/Ju/Mo/VeR in navamsa. Although this is a subjective, psychological approach into this house, I think it aptly describes the karma that was presented to me at birth. Guest guest
Dear Robyn, For " safe and sound" mind, Chandra is the most important graha.. 1.Chandra rules mind and causes exaltation of Guru(dhi shakti). On the other hand, mangal causes debilitation of chandra, while Shani causes debilitation of Guru.. When Mangal afflicts chandra and Shani afflicts Guru, one can have mental problems, loss of memory, awareness etc. That is why ancient texts mention that Shani in Lagna and Guru in 7th house if afflicted may cause madness. 2. Budha ruling discrimination process and nerves, can also afflict intellect. Yet, when chandra is well placed, the person would have low intellectual capabilities, but sound mind.. 3. Rahu and Ketu may also cause mental disorders yet it is important that they be on a higher degree than graha they afflict. For example when ketu is in Yuti with Lagna Lord in a higher degree, it may eclipse the native. 4. There are special Yogas such as Paisacha etc. You may study classical texts and book of B.V. Raman (300 important combination) One cannot give thumb rules for such important aspect. The whole chart and planetary pattern would indicate this.. Best wishes Zoran resimpson wrote: > Hi there Zoran, > > Been away on holiday for a while. > > I must say, I am becoming intrigued by this discussion. Guest guest
Namaste Dear Zoran, Thanks for the explanation. With Chandra in Scorpio ruled by Mars, Lord of 3d and 8th House, and Guru debilitated and combust with Shani as Lord of 5th and 6th House, obviously one would be a little concerned about the state of one's mental health. Thank goodness for other factors in the chart which ameliorate these influences. Best wishes Robyn - "Zoran Radosavljevic" <ahimsa <gjlist> Sunday, March 31, 2002 12:52 PM Re: [GJ] Jupiter afflictions > Dear Robyn, > For " safe and sound" mind, Chandra is the most important graha.. > 1.Chandra rules mind and causes exaltation of Guru(dhi shakti). Guest guest
Dear All I ran a seach of all my charts in my Vedic program to find any with Jupiter debilitated and combust. I found about 10, at least half of them were born in early 2 1962 with the huge gathering of planets in Capricorn. While it is true that I recalled several of these folks as having depression, they are also very spiritual even a little detached. There was one that stood out. The combination is in her 7th house and her husband went over the edge. He became so comvinced that she was having affairs that he literally stopped going to wrok to salk her. He BTW was having affairs as I recall. Anyway, I had expected to see the several I have of scziophrenics or who committed suicide but they did not appear. Ahh, what a subtle and rich study this astrology is. I'm sure that the dasha sequences and the Moon's ability to shift perceptions is paramount in how a person is able to cope with what Iife offers and the brains ability to sort through it all cynthia
Guest guest
Dear Cynthia Jupiter and Sun are fairly compatible as energies go so the combustion would not be as detrimental as other combinations . They could well be spiritual but might lose objectivity in terms of their spiritual development . Guest guest
Dear Robyn, This case of yours is exactly what I said about the combust graha. IT is under the dominance of Sun, in your case Father(ruling the house of loss/restriction). Budha and Shukra add terrible boost to neecha Guru since They form Karmaadhipati Yoga. Yet Rx shukra could indicate problems in love matters, depending on the rest of the chart. So don't worry. If shani is in kendra to chandra or lagna, it would lend Guru a hand.Such positions of grahas are not favourable for your mother. Guru would further give you problems in hips/legs area, and you should take care in driving or be troubled by possible accidents. Otherwise, this arrey of planets would promote material prosperity depending on the dashas. Best wishes, Zoran resimpson wrote: > Dear Zoran, > > Thank you, my point exactly. > > The discussion, however, made me think carefully about my combust Jupiter in > Saturn's fifth house which is occupied by Me/Su/Ju/VeR. Guest guest
Namaste Dear Zoran Thanks for your contributions on this issue. Each day that goes by, I realise more and more the powerful interpretative nature of Jyotish, and, with that power, the responsibility on the astrologer to be acutely aware of this depth of insight that it can give. In one statement, you pinpointed a cardinal psychological issue of mine that took about 5 years of therapy to sort out. I pray that I always maintain a humble attitude before this incredible science!
