I have seen twice on this list that when a woman speaks out, has been told to

have seen how many so called "spiritual" students, treat women like door maths.

Lets observe our "bad habits" and try to correct them.

Perhaps those men who choose to abuse women will find their lesson next life

time and be a woman. The lesson eventually gets learned. I can remember male

lifetimes clearly and yet you are correct, woman get a totally different

response than men on vedic lists. This is unfortunate and short sighted. As a

test I have my husband reveal the ayanamsa I use...rather than me...for then it

is considered. As a Hindu wife I am treasured..the woman does the japa for the

family...to hold the spirituality of the home is far more elevated than

vacuuming..perhaps as women we have the best seat in the house. I heard a wish

once made to a married couple..."may your love rise so high to touch the feet of

God"...may that stand for us all.

Having grown up around Mayan people I am used to a heightened awareness of

moon...in North America persons are quite removed from the cycles of life.

Upon coming to Canada and attending Latin dances(a major passion)...I was

delighted to see that the Mayan people brought the planetary traditions so far

north. Initially I was called bruja, but now am called psychico...despite the

explanations of astrology. No matter it is said with great love. Animals are

strong in many cultures, Mayan and Aztec...do you have any astrological

references to say the Jaguar, Panther, Crow, etc... Even in Chinese studies we

find the animals are ever present. Any references I may research? Many

Dear Alexandra,

Would you help me understand what it is to be a Hindu wife? When I read the

stories in some of the Vedas it seems to me that women are repeatedly punished

for simply being distracted or in the case, I can't recall their names, the

young sisters who refused the old man and then the Vasus entered them and

caused them to feel the pain of old age. I know that I am jaded by birth, but

I also suspect that I have past life pain memories, but I struggle to

understand that women are truly valued in Hinduism. I love Vedic astrology and

long to stretch my understanding of the religion.

 

Do you, have you studied the nakshatras and how are they taught? I know that

they originated in the Indus Valley and that they are feminine in nature, still

almost all have a male deity attached, how is that explained? I wonder because

there are so many female deities yet only Nirriti (that is the only one that

comes to mind) the destructive goddess is represented by a goddess. This is a

sincere request for insight. I do know that I can only see with the eyes I

have and hope to look through yours.
