OM GURAVE NAMAH

SHADRIPU'S are 6 forms of weaknesses or our sins that exist in the subconscious

mind. These are

studied from the 6th House and Trimsamsa. KAMA DESIRE

MERCURY 7KRODHA ANGER MARS 8LOBHA GREED

RAHU 9MOHA PASSION KETU 10MADA

ALCOHOL SATURN 11MATSARYA SEX VENUS

TEACHINGS from SANJAY RATH sjvc

Take MADA for example. Alcohol is a poor translation. Alcoholism or addiction in

any form or manner is a better translation. This addiction should also damage

the body and make the mind a slave. that is why Saturn represents this

particular weakness as it represents servitude/slavery whether to another

master or inanimate object. KRODHA Anger is a fine translation and Mars is a

good and easy correlation, but what causes this anger? Is it not desire? If so,

then how can this be an independent Shadripu? Then we need to rethink about the

exact translation....Like this as all evolve spiritually, these words will have

deeper meanings.

MATSARYA is envy and Venus is the root cause of envy. Displeasure is not correct

as Matsarya is not exactly opposite of pleasure. Venus causes envy and troubles

because of this weakness in self or others depending on lordship and placement.

MOHA is attraction without logical thinking. Like a man 'falling for' a

beautiful woman. This is what I call really 'headless attitude' and it can

happen to all of us. Thus, Ketu the headless can cause this and also bring

about marriage. For example, during the Narayana Dasa of Dhanuvad Ketu I got

married. Many were shocked that one like me got married (So was I !!!). perhaps

Moha as I found everything so perfect then..as if I had found a soul

mate..that's Moha. there is no place for logic or thinking out here - no brain

work at all.

--------

TEACHINGS OF NARISHIMA RAO sjvc (1) Kaama: Desire - wanting

things (including sex)(2) Krodha: Anger - getting angry about things(3) Lobha:

Greed and avarice - not spending on worthy causes and being greedy(4) Moha:

Delusion - getting caught in maya, trying for recognition pursuing temporary

goals.(5) Mada: Wantonness & lust - forgetting all morals madly going after

what one wants, including sex.(6) Maatsarya: Jealousy and dissatisfaction - not

being able to appreciate others and lack of humility MADA may be translated by

some people as alcoholism, but this is a narrow translation. The meaning with

which this word was originally used is wantonness. If one is so intoxicated

with his desire (of anything) that he forgets all the rules and morals and goes

crazily after what he desires, he is exhibiting "mada". This word was applied in

literature particularly in the case of a man madly pursuing a woman (e.g.

Keechaka going after Draupadi in Mahabharata). Alcoholism is a very narrow

translation. MOHA may also be translated differently based on contemporary

usage, but the original meaning was delusion. The root verb "muh" means "to be

confused, to be deluded, to mistake something for something else". Moha may

refer to falling prey to the delusions of material existence. Much narrower

translations are certainly possible, but "delusion" is the basic meaning.

MATSARA means jealous, selfish and dissatisfied. Maatsarya is the quality of a

matsara person. This is quite clear.

The sins that are hidden are in the adrusya sign while those that are in drusya

sign shall be visible/ others get to know of it. Adrusya and drusya simply

means visible and hidden. This is easier to understand if you walk out in an

open field and look at the sky. The horizon in the eastern side where the sky

and earth meet is Lagna and the opposite in the western end is the descendant

or 7th house cusp. The vertical up when you look up is the tenth house. So,

which houses are visible in the sky? This is the half from the Lagna to 7th

cusp in the reverse direction. This is the meaning of Drusya and Adrusya.

TEACHINGS OF SAI BABA Q. What exactly is Kama?

A. Desire for riches, property, honour, status, fame, children; why list the

lot? Attachment to all things of this sensory world, this false, temporary,

impure world.

Q. Krodha?

A. Yearning to harm others and cause ruin to them.

Q. And Lobha?

A. Determination that no one else should partake of even a small fraction of

what one has earned or what one has; also, that even in times of distress,

one's possessions should not be diminished by use.

Q. What is of Moha?

A. The delusion that some people are nearer to one than others and the desire to

please them more than others, leading to exertions for earning and accumulating

for their sake.

Q. Mada?

A. Mada means the swagger that develops when one feels that he has either

scholarship or strength or riches or fame, more than others. Even when one has

not got these, Mada makes men move about without reverence for elders and

consideration for others' feelings and craving only for one's own comfort and

security. Mada is extreme egoism.

Q. what is Maathsarya. A. When others are as happy as yourself, Maathsrya makes

one miserable; one cannot tolerate it.

When the 6 enemies rules over you, you are in hell and when you rule upon them

you are in heaven. Now, come back to Shastra. When it is declared that our body

is a microUniverse, then how the Heaven and Hell both could be very far?

Hope this helps, Pearl
