Guest guest
Dear Members, As we're all engaged in this divine science of jyotish, it would be appropriate to turn our gaze (occasionally) to the divine 9th house... As we know, this is the house of religion, philosophy, remedies, higher learning (many say higher religious learning), providence, good fortune and so forth. It is the house that embraces such learned people as judges, advocates, brahmins, priests, and gurus of the highest level. It is referred to as the house of Natural Law! As jyotisha our vocation (reading the blueprint of Natural Law) is profoundly connected to this house. Jyotish is, to the traditional jyotisha, intimately connected to the whole ethos of Vedic culture and it is, to my mind, the influence of this house that draws the jyotisha to his vocation....divine calling! However there is another house that's also connected to divination...the 8th house of the occult! I've studied the charts of many Vedic and Western astrologers and what I've found is that (either one of) these houses is strongly associated with lagna, lagnesh or Sun, in the charts of astrologers. The 8th has a strong influence on those accepting of Western thought, whilst a predominant 9th influence draws the astrologer more towards the traditional Vedic approach. Often there is a strong connection with both which, to my mind, indicates an astrologer who is well-versed in natural law and who possesses (also) the skill of intuitive divination... If the influence of 9th house is strong, it's important to understand the nature of the planets drawing one to this vocation...a natural benefic in, owning, or aspecting this house (or it's lord) indicates right understanding of Natural Law. A malefic similarly influencing (often) gives rise to wrong understanding of Natural Law. I've seen charts where native's with weak planets in 9th exhibit extreme humility in regards to religion, guru etc., yet others with strong planets in this house who exhibit extreme arrogance in this regard. But, no matter what the influence, it's all The Hand of God and no-one has the right to judge another who, according to his destiny at birth, sees things from a different perspective than ours.
