Guest guest
Hi Pamela you <<Hi, I am one of the quiet members of the group but I wanted to respond the the topic of Ph.D's and the 12th house since I have a Ph.D I am a psychologist and have also done a fair amount of research as well as clinical work. I have Capricorn Rising with Saturn in the 12th. What I have done with my degree is work in hospitals and prisons. I also have Mars/Venus in Cap, Sun in Pisces, Me/Ke in Aries ( had a long of education delays) Moon in Taurus and Jupiter/Rahu in the 10th in Libra. Astrologers who read my chart and did not know I had a Ph,.D said I should get one.>> me I am glad that you have posted. In my student years at university i used to share a flat with a psychology student. I also have come across several students of Ph.D, some in architecture and some in Biology. I know that a Ph.D can demand a lot of austerity, dedication, detachment and perseverance. All those traits are dictated by the indications of the 12th house. The 12th house indicates institutions like hospitals, prisons, schools etc. B.V. Raman says in his book "How To Judge A Horoscope" Vol 2, page 248, that psychologists come under the general group of intellectuall avocations. He also say on page 249 that jupiter and Mercury refer to intellectual avocation. Your horoscope has Jupiter in 10th and aspected by Mercury. Those planets have signed your vocation. Although you have Guru-chandala yoga in the 10th, meaning among other things that you are very open to people and therefore prone to be cheated from time to time, you forgive very easy. Among the good trends given by Rahu-Jupiter is a good psychological learning of people and a generous and selfless nature. Plus some extra sensorial or psychic powers. Lord of the 10th in 1st indicates the potential to become a self-made-person and the possibilities of running your own office, clinic or business. Exalted Moon in the 5th indicates your strong will power and independant nature. Exalted Mars in 1st and as lord of the 4th house, indicates your strong will power to succed in your education and as lord of the 11 in 1st indicates a dhana yoga, or a planetary combination capable of bringing you a good labha (income, profit). Although all the 12 houses educate the soul in this reincarnation, the 4th house rules education in general and the 9th, rules higher education. In your chart, 9th lord Mercury in 4th is aspected by exalted Mars, lord of the 4th (education) and 11th (profits), and by jupiter, lord of 3rd (communicative skills) and 12th (detachment, austerities, losses) . The 12th house is the 4th from the 9th house (higher education), indicating PhD or post graduate studies, which have to be sanctioned by a bona fide educative institution (12th house). A feed back to this would be welcome. Hope this helps. best wishes Natabara das
