Guest guest
Dear Chris you <<I know the Campion book and that date is obviously well known. There is also another date, Mar 29 1867 at 00.00. From an historical point of view, this 12.05 time is one that reflects the symbolic start of the country, the moment when it was proclaimed in a public ceremony. >> me I prefer the time when a document is signed, rather than a proclamation. you <<I have also seen used by other Canadian astrologers. And in my experience, the 12.05 works best for historical events: the FLQ crisis in 1970, the Quebec referendum of Oct 1995, and so forth.>> me Well, you have the advantage of been born in Canada and therefore you are supposed to know its history better. you <<Feel free to experiment with other times, but in myopinion, the 12.05 is best.>> me Thanks. i will try 00:00. >From the data of 1 July 1867, 0h, at Ottawa, we get a horoscope having Ascendant Pisces at 23°34'52 Venus is in 3rd Moon and sun in 4th Mercury in 5th Mars and Rahu in 6th Saturn in 8th and Jupiter and Ketu are in Aquarius in the 12th. I will start with the indications given by the 12th house, which are among other things; losses. >From the book "Chronicle of the 20th Century", we read: 4 Feb 1916, Ottawa. "6 Die in Canadian parliament fire; arson suspected" Here we have the parliament which can be seen as the representant of the nation and therefore the 1st house. Also, we have the suspicion of open enemies or arson. >From our horoscope we have that from 2-Oct-1915 to 16 Mar 1916, Canada was ruled by SaRaSa. Or the Saturn dasa, Rahu bukti and Saturn antara. Following the rule that for dasas we look at the ownership. For buktis we look at the location. For antaras we look at the ownership and the location of the planet. Saturn dasa. Saturn rules the 12th house indicating losses and in the chart, Jupiter the owner of the ascendant is in the 12th houses indicating losses of the country. Rahu bukti. By location, Rahu is in the 6th house, the house of open enemies. Saturn antara. Saturn rules the 12th and it is in the 8th house which rules the end of things, death. "15 Nov 1927. Canada admitted to the League of Nations" >From 29 Oct 1927 to 6 Jan 1928, Canada was in MeMoJu. Mercury dasa. Mercury rules the 4th and the 7th houses. The 7th rules international affairs. Moon bukti. Moon is in the 4th but aspecting the 10th. Location is seen as a primary indication and aspects as secondary. The 4th is the mind of the people and in this case, their minds were pleased with this political move. As aspect, the 10th house is involved and it rules the National honour or reputation, and success in general. Jupiter antara. Jupiter rules the 10th and the 1st houses. All that has been already explained. It is in the 12th. I do not know how to fit this. Perhaps it is a political lose, and only time will tell. "24 Jan 1978 Canada. Soviet atomic spy satellite re-enters atmosphere and disintegrates" >From 26 Dec 1977 to 30 Jan 1978, Canada was in MoKeSa. Moon dasa. Moon rules the 5th house indicating diplomacy. Ketu bukti. Ketu is in the 12th house indicating falls. Jupiter antara. Jupiter rules the 10th and 1st houses or the karma and personality of the nation. And it is in the 12th, the house indicating secret (spies) enemies. "9 Feb 1978 Canada. Canada expells 11 Soviet aides in spying case" For this case we see MoKeMe Moon dasa. Moon rules the 5th indicating diplomacy. Ketu bukti. Ketu in 12th indicates secret enemies. Mercury antara. Mercury rules the 4th and 7th houses. Or the well being of people's mind and foreign countries or friction with them. Mercury is in 5th indicating diplomacy, gambling. Mundane astrlogy requires time to study. It is not easy to look for the clues, many times, the clues do not fit. Here i only have given the essentials. Because my book of historic reference goes until 1991 and because you did not give details for "the FLQ crisis in 1970, the Quebec referendum of Oct 1995", i could not search for them in the planetary periods. I hope that this is helpful. Best wishes Natabara das
Guest guest
Natabara, While I appreciate your efforts here, none of the incidents yout cite have much importance in Canadian history. They may have been important at the time, but nobody now knows about them. So the question for astrologers is: should these show up in the chart? Well, of course, everything should show up somehow but really, a chart has to be able to convey the really important things before we start worrying about fires or spy satellites burning up over Canada. The two events I mentioned, are possibly the among the most important in Canadian history and are recorded in all its history books. The FLQ crisis occurred in Oct 1970 and was the only time when martial law was delcared in peacetime as a group or armed terrorists held several government officials hostage. Hundreds of innocent persons were arrested as the police took no chances. It was shock to the nation and underscored the greater problem of Quebece separatism. The Oct 1995 referendum was also a part of Quebec's desire for self -determination and it came within 30,00 votes out of 5 million of legally separating from Canada. It was a very close call that few in the rest of Canada would care to repeat. So a good workable chart of Canada should really show those two events very clearly in terms of their shock value, and disruptive effect on the country.
