Dear Kundalika and list.

Sometimes words in a language does not give the right idea. Take for example

the English word aspect.

The Oxford Paperback Dictionary says for aspect:

1. a view point, a feature to be considered.

2. the look or appearance of a person or thing.

3. the direction a thing faces.

4. (On astrology), the relative position of a star or group of stars, regarded

as having influence on events.

Nowere we see vision.

We have to consider that Vedic astrology is now in the west thanks to the

English language and to the work done by western astrologers.

However, when translating from Sanskrit into English, many times, we have to

compromise words according to the educative frame as given to us.

Therefore, words like dharma was translated as religion instead of the inherent

property of a soul, its duty. Or the word dristi translated as aspect, instead

of vision.

In my present recovery i have learned about the value of dristi.

Somehow the eyes are like the windows to the brain. We see with our eyes, but

no many people know that we can become ill from certain exposures perceived by

our eyes.

Somehow i became "allergic" to the exposure to flourecent light and the light

from fire works.

Due to their exposure, i became very tired, sick and dizzy. Although those

simptoms are now reduced in proportion to the reduction of the inflamation of

my cerebelum, still i can see the value of the eyes.

Some perceptions are:

1. In the beginning i could not read at all. While in hospital, i could read

only the big letters, because the small ones were blurred and made me sick,

dizzy and tired.

Later on, i could read a book but the small print was somehow difficult and slow

to read, mainly during the first 2 pages. Afterwards, i could read 20 or 30

pages without a problem and as fast as when i was healthy.

I have to say that i never wore glasses on because my vision has been always 20/20.

When walking in the street, i do so by fixing my eyes on the ground, otherwise i

lose my balance. If i want to see something, i have to stop walking and see,

otherwise i lose my balance. In the beginning i only could walk but without

talking to keep my concentration on.

In a healthy mood, a person can walk, talk, hear (like when listening to a

conversation), smell (like when smelling flowers) and see at the same time.

When the cerebelum is not functioning, a person can only do a thing at a time.

I can not focus to objects at a long distance, and when a person aproaches me,

my focus is altered and i feel disconfort. The nearest the person or object to

my eyes, the more the disconfort and the feeling of dizzines, sickness and

unbalance.

Once upon it time i used black glasses and the bad symptoms given by the

flourecent lights in a supermarket, diminished. But another time i used blue

glasses and those lights got enhanced to the point that i had to take them off.

With all these experiences i have learned about the importance of dristi, or

vision, which is not only an "aspect" as we are conditioned to believe. We

have to understand the whole concept of dristi to really appreciate its real

meaning.

Best wishes

Dear Natabara and list,

There are many on this list who feel that discussing ancient texts is a waste of

time. It is true that doing interpretations is important, but how can anyone

make accurate interpretations if their basic understanding is flawed?

Also, not everyone on the list is an expert in Vedic astrology. It is necessary

that the ancient texts are understood properly. Some translations make me

wonder if the author was sleep-walking (or should it be sleep-writing?).

If some of you still feel that actual interpretation is more important, then do

let me know. I have a database of normal people charts, with ordinary lives, as

opposed to "rich and famous" category. I will post some charts, and the

astrologers can enlighten us all with their interpretations.

Can you do mine? Especially dashas. It would help if I could figure out what the

culprits were in aspect and dasha/bhukti. Maybe if I could see how *one* planet

ws acting in a dasha it would help.
