Guest guest
Dear Ravindramani, You Wrote: Saturn and Rahu both are natural malefics. True, but the same applies to all natural malefics. They may be malefics, but their natures (results) are not the same. Saturn and Rahu both treat Mercury as their natural friends and when they are posited in Mercurian signs they give favourable results to the native in respect of their natural indications subject to other influences on them. True, but Moon and Venus also have Mercury as their friend. I don't see any exclusivity for SA/RA Saturn and Rahu both are slow moving planets in the zodiac. Hence they give their results slowly but their results are felt by the native for a longer period and in greater intensity (say for example if they give diseases - they are chronic in nature and at times incurable if they be posited in 8th.) True, but Jupiter is also a slow moving planet, in fact more on a par with Rahu than Saturn, so why don't we say (in this regard) Guru Vat Rahu. Saturn and Rahu both represent darkness - they are black in colour - opposed to light - creates fear in the mind of the native - (say for example if they influnce moon the karaka for mind, Rahu when eclipsing moon creates lot of phobias and unfound fears.) True, but Rahu's (compulsive) phobias are, to my mind, far removed from the depressive, pessimistic fears due to Saturn. Saturn and Rahu both have been allotted the dasha periods by sage parashara 19 and 18 years respectively. ( may be a logic behind it - none is satisfactorily give the logic for allottment of dasha periods among the planets.). And Mercury has been allotted 17yrs. How do we then say Shani Vat Rahu, based upon similar dasa periods. Rahu's dasa is one year less than Saturn and one year more than Mercury. Why don't we say Budha Vat Rahu? During the Dasha period of saturn and Rahu a native is being brought to the right path - he is put under rigirous test in all his walk of life and the native remembers the Almighty. I think Rahu tends to draw one away from the "right path" Saturn turns inward towards meditation, Rahu turns outward towards the world. Saturn and Rahu both represent seperativeness. Saturn and Rahu both represent nerves. As far as I recollect, the nervous system (nerves) are relegated to Saturn, Mercury and Ketu. Rahu's main influence is on the alimentary canal/excretory system. Like wise Mars and Ketu enjoys the Dasha period of 7 years True, Sun is similar with 6yrs. Mars and Ketu represents firey nature in common. Mars has fiery temperament; ketu's temperament is airy (akin to Saturn). Mars and Ketu both are natural malefics. Above comment applies here too. During their Dasha periods native is prone to injuries. True, both can attribute to accidental incidents. But unless Ketu is influenced by placement or aspect, the accidental incidents are not the same (typical) wound inflicting accidents inflicted by Mars. Mars and Ketu both posited in 5th house they tend to deny progeny subject to other influence on them As well as the (obvious) unusual, shy, introverted qualities visited upon progeny, Ketu can certainly hinder one's ability to conceive and have children...may even deny (as you say), in this regard Ketu is more akin to Saturn than Mars. Mars on the other hand can injure the unborn child (abortion) as well as cause problems with the delivery...difficult delivery, stillbirth etc. Mars in 5th denotes aggressive, ambitious, energetic children. Guest guest
Thank you for your comments. Since the subject matter was Sat and Rahu and Mars and Ketu I tried to corelate them only. You are right as Jupiter is also a slow moving planet and they are not compared as Shani Vat Rahu and Kuja Vat Ketu. I noted your other points regarding Jupiter, Venus and their relations vis-a-vis Saturn, Rahu, Mars, Ketu. I feel this is the way to learn and improve one's ideas. I look forward other members' views on the subject. Regards, C.S. Ravindramani Send FREE video emails in Mail.

Mars has bilious temperament. Mars primordial compound is fire; Rahu and Ketu, like Saturn's, is air. The combination of these things determine their dosha; i.e., Mars dosha is Pitta, Rahu and Ketu (like Saturn) are Vata.
