Guest guest
Hare Krishna Stavavali Mataji Thank you very much for that information. <<satya-dharmaya drstaye >> So dristaye is related to vision, dristi, aspect. We in the west are not used to the concept of dristi (planetary aspect in vedic astrology). We only think about the power of vision with our eyes but it is obvious that dristi is more than vision. I was talking today to a friend about vision and he says that our eyes normally grasp the vision of objects that vibrate at a certain speed per second. Faster or lesser than that, our eyes cannot see it. Therefore in my opinion, if we can perceive with our eyes, we can also be affected through the eyes. There are computer workers or secretaries working on computers, complaining of headaches, dizziness or other symptoms because the vibrations emanated by their screens affect their eyes and health. By understanding the concept of dristhi, we can appreciate the influence of the planets better. "O my Lord, sustainer of all that lives. Your real face is covered by Your dazzling effulgence. Kindly remove that covering and exhibit Yourself to Your pure devotee." Sri Isopanisad mantra 15, translator Srila Prabhupada. As i understand it, we have to achieve 100% purity to be able to see the Lord. I see a link to what George Harrison wrote in My Sweet Lord "Really want to see youalthough it takes a long time". Many materialistic people think that they can buy anything with their money to the point of paying for the privilege of seeing the Lord. Some of them are even cheated by paying money to "become God" or become "self realised". They cannot understand that money cannot buy God or godly qualities."satya-pure;dharmaya-unto the devotee;drstaye-for exhibiting" So, dristaye is exhibiting, showing. Sanskrit is beautiful. I have heard that when Indira Gandhi was in power she ordered the withdrawal of reading the Bhagavad Gita in primary schools. In my opinion, the reading of the Gita is very useful to everyone. God appears Himself in every sacred scripture to give comfort and benedictions to His devotees according to their understanding. In this way God appears in the Gita according to our understanding or spiritual advancement. I believe as well that because most of us are conditioned by the modes of nature, we have the propensities to give, show or impose those gunas or modes of nature to others throughout our activities. Therefore many writers have the tendency to share in their books, their own gunas. I am very cautious about this because i try to avoid any contamination coming from the false ego. There are many translations of the Bhagavad Gita but unfortunately, many of them come from authors that are under the effects of the gunas. Krishna says in the Bhagavad Gita "Go beyond the influence of those Gunas", achieve the level of "yoga" or Krishna Consciousness. The more we are intoxicated by the modes of nature the less pure our message will be and the less we are going to help others to get out of the material conditionment. I believe that Srila Prabhupada was beyond the gunas when he translated and published the Bhagavad Gita and all his other vedic books. Therefore, we are safe to read them because he wrote them without any false ego or false motivations. Your in the service of divinity.
