Guest guest
Dear learned list members, I have developed some confusion reg commencement of antradasa in a narayanadasa due two ststements in two books by jyotishguru sanjay Rath.Jaimini maharishi's updesha sutras (Page 218--stanza2.4.34) says AD starts from lord of dasa sign or its 7th house, which means Pakalagna of dasa rasi or 7th therefrom. the book "Narayana Dasa"(page 40--notes 2) says find out stronger between dasa rasi&7th therefrom. sign occupied by lord of stronger of the two signs will start the antradasa. To me it appears that we may need to reconcile the two. 2.Will the same method apply for calculating AD in Sudasa? And will Sudasa have the same periods for rasis as caculated for Narayana dasa rasis. 3.My third query is reg Wearing of gems for astrological purposes. The gems have to touch the skin. But what about Diamond?Jewellers say Diamond can not be worn touching the skin because it is always cut in a way that it will pierce through the skin if worn touching the skin. Any thoughts on these issues please, Best regards, Fayyaz
Guest guest
Dear Fayyaz, I think I can help you with your questions re: Narayana dasa: You wrote: >Dear learned list members, >I have developed some confusion reg commencement of antradasa in a >narayanadasa due two ststements in two books by jyotishguru sanjay >Rath.Jaimini maharishi's updesha sutras (Page 218--stanza2.4.34) says AD >starts from lord of dasa sign or its 7th house, which means Pakalagna of >dasa rasi or 7th therefrom. the book "Narayana Dasa"(page 40--notes 2) says >find out stronger between dasa rasi&7th therefrom. sign occupied by lord of >stronger of the two signs will start the antradasa. To me it appears that we >may need to reconcile the two. I don't exactly see the question. Both situations as you describe above, are exactly the same. Anyway, for AD's (sub-periods) in Narayana dasa (and many phalita rasi dasas), first find the stronger of the dasa rasi, and the 7th from it. Follow the rules for strengths of signs and planets, in "Narayana Dasa", by Sanjay Rath. Note that the progression of the sub-periods, will be forward or reverse zodiacally, depending on whether the starting sign is odd or even. In case Ketu is in the *stronger of dasa rasi or its 7th*, reverse the order of the sub-periods. If Saturn is in the stronger of 1/7 from dasa rasi, then the sub-periods will go forward always. The lengths of sub-periods, are 1/12 that of the major periods, and thus are equal in length. >2.Will the same method apply for calculating AD in Sudasa? And will Sudasa >have the same periods for rasis as caculated for Narayana dasa rasis. Sudasa sub-periods are an exception to the above. Sudasas run in kendra from the Sri lagna (going forward or reverse if the Sri lagna is odd or even respectively). When the first four kendras are covered, then go to the Panaparas, and proceed in kendras; then finally, go to the Apoklimas, and finish the kendras from them. The Sudasas always start from the Sri lagna itself, and not its 7th (if the 7th is stronger). The sub-periods also start with the dasa rasi, and run in *Kendras from it*, in the same manner as the major periods. The reasoning for this is, that Laksmi, the Goddess of Fortune (also called "Sri"), always abides where Her husband Vishnu is. Since Lord Sri Vishnu always resides in the kendra houses (and thus rules over them), then Laksmi will stay only in kendras from the Sri lagna or sub-period sign. Sudasa, is also called "Rasi dasa", and "Sri lagna kendradi rasi dasa". An Excellent book covering the calculations, and uses of the above dasa systems, is: "Vedic Astrology - An Integrated Approach", by Narasimha Rao. >3.My third query is reg Wearing of gems for astrological purposes. The gems >have to touch the skin. But what about Diamond?Jewellers say Diamond can not >be worn touching the skin because it is always cut in a way that it will >pierce through the skin if worn touching the skin. The point here, is that Diamond is going to be cut differently for astrological use, than if for ordinary cosmetic use. The cut for an astrological usage, should be done with the above in mind. Guest guest
Dear Robert, Thanks indeed for your very useful clarification. Can you also please tell me if Jaimini Rajyogas/yogas are applicable while analysing charts using Vimshottari dasa. Moreover, can we use rasi drishti for judging aspects, while using vimshottari dasa? Best regards, Fayyaz
Guest guest
Dear Robert, Sorry for bothering you again, but one small question was left .i.e:-Are Sudasa major periods of Rasis of the same length as those calculated for Narayanadasa rasis? Guest guest
Dear Fayyaz, At 07:36 PM 12/19/01 -0500, you wrote: >Dear Robert, >Thanks indeed for your very useful clarification. At + AMK is one, and AK + PK is another, for example. Note that in chapter 5 of Jaimini Sutram, the 5th karaka is named as "Janita", which refers to the father. Thus Pitrikaraka, according to Jaimini, is the 5th, and so the Putrakaraka will be the 6th Chara karaka. Anyway, all of rasi aspects and karaka yogas, can be used with Vimsottari dasa as well, absolutely. A useful technique, is to use Vimsottari with Narayana or Chara dasa, as the sphere of "Manas", or the mind, thus comes into proximity with that of the physical and pre-determined environment, the effects of which are timed through rasi dasas.
