I wanted to comment on this dispositor issue, because evidently it is one of the biggest complaints you have about the Libra lagna chart for George Harrison. Dispositors are equally, if not more, important that the actual rasi position of planets. How do I conclude this? A little knowledge of some basic yogas goes a long way. Note as follows: PARIJATA YOGA: Definition: if the dispositor, of the dispositor, of the lord of the lagna, is in a kendra or trikona in its own or exalted sign, the person becomes as if a King (in other words, attains Raja-yoga status). Now, this means that if the lord of the lagna were in a weak or debilitated sign in some chart, in a bad house, yet if the dispositor of its dispositor (in other words, the ruler of the sign where its lord is placed), were well placed as above, then the person attains Raja-yoga. This illustrates, by way of yoga, that the dispositors of the lord of the ascendant are more important to judge the native's destiny, more so than the lord of the ascendant itself. B.V. Raman (who you have from somewhere referred to as saying that the Navamsa should be "shelved"), adds the following additional definition of Parijata yoga: if the Navamsa dispositor, of the lord of the ascendant, is in it own or exalted sign in the Navamsa, equal to a kendra or trikona, then Parijata yoga is formed. PARVAT YOGA: Definition, according to Phaladeepika: If the dispositor of the lord of the ascendant, occupies its own or exalted sign equal to a kendra or trikona, Parvat yoga is formed, and carries weight equal to Raja-yoga. This is similar to Parijata yoga above, yet only the dispositor of the lagna lord is considered, and not its dispositor. So all of this underscores the importance of dispositorship over the natal position of the lagna lord, in addition to the position of the dispositor in the Navamsa chart. This is basic, Parasari astrology, and I have not created anything new here. With a careful reading of the Jyotish classics, you will gain a clearer understanding of this and related issues in chart interpretation. One final point: You wrote: >One good thing, one >bad thing, and the chart stays within the realm of ordinary charts. One thing you haven't observed here, is that apart from 8 years of exceptional glory, the rest of Harrison's life was as if he had an ordinary chart. He was not a happy man, in fact depressed and isolated. The picture of his chart that you gave (through Virgo rising) is that his lifetime dropped down out of heaven on him. For 8 or 10 years perhaps, but not so the rest of the time. The real life has to be seen through all sides of the prism, not just one. Other final points: * For Virgo, 5th lord in the 9th, and 9th lord exalted. Was he an educated man with post graduate degrees? In fact, he barely got beyond high school, if I'm not mistaken. * 9th lord exalted: Did he have a particular guru to whom he surrendered, and who was his life and soul (obvious interpretation of exalted 9th lord)? He loved Prabhupada, and for a while Maharishi Mahesh yogi, but then finally gave up on gurus altogether, as did John Lennon. In the Libra chart, 9th lord is in 4th, with its dispositor in the 8th. This shows deviation from a guru parampara, and a specific spiritual path in general. Anyway, there are so many things, yet this will be my final post on this thread. Guest guest
Robert, I haven't been impolite. There are 577 members on this list, they have been reading the posts, the posts are for them- they will decide if I've been impolite. As far as dispositors are concerned, they are not emphasized at all in the classic literature the way that placement in dushthanas are. It is my contention that the ascendent lord, Venus and the lord of the house of properties in the most evil houses of the horoscope preclude the possibility of Libra beingthe ascendent of George Harrison, the millionare musician. I am satisfied, I also, will speak no more on the subject.
