Guest guest
Haribol Tulasi << >> Text among double brackets is yours. < > Text in single brackets is my old text No brackets is my answer to yours. <<Easier said than done, and expensive>> I know the feeling, i have been there and i am still there. But in the long term a good computer programe is not expensive, thank goodness that i got this one donated. Anyway, this position of austerities gives good spiritual rewards. < Somewhere i have read that an astrologer can go to hell for making mistakes in his/her calculations.<<<It says this in Nalini's book.>> I have not read Nalini's book yet, therefore i must have read it from another source but i do not remember now. > Do not be afraid, i am sure that i will go to hell and i hope that Lord Yama will give me some concessions for my good deeds.< <<I dont particuarly want to go to hell <s> tho if you dont mind having a chat with Dharmaraja, thats your privledge.>> 8 months ago i almost die in hospital and i had a chat with Dharmaraja, but i was told that it was not yet my time. But even Dharmaraja is a great devotee of the Lord and we can learn a lot by having a chat to him. Whatever my karma, wherever i will be sent, i do not care or i am not afraid. I just hope that one day i will remember the lotus feet of my Lord. < I have seen some TZB with unaccurate time zones. Beware. I have even seen a computer programe in 1991 with inaccurate time zones.<<<So its a hopeless case and why bother?>> As astrologers we have the duty to separate wrong from right, eventually we gather what is right to use in the service of others and help them to reach their last destination, back to Godhead. <<To clarify, I was not asking to change destiny, but to find it out. >> Yes, i know, but i tell you even if you find it out, God has the last word on destiny. Around 1980, the temple president at the Bhaktivedanta Manor told me " If you tell people that after death they will reach liberation, some of them will give up their spiritual work and think "why bother, i will get this time around disregarding my present activities". And if you tell them that they are destined to go to hell, some will feel very bad to the point of freezing"". All that made me think and i did dont want to get the karma for giving unecessary anxieties. Then it was the dilema, what if i am wrong? As a jiva (soul)in this body, i am conditioned by gender, class, nation and culture, conditionments difficult to break. I am aware of some of those conditionments and i have broken others but they are very difficult to break and they are lurking waiting to get the best of me. <<When someone dies we are in ignorance and that is one cause of pain. >> Love in separation is difficult to overcome and the greatest suffering of separation is when one's spiritual master dies. <<We dont know where a person has gone when they leave this world and if we only had a long pole we could look thru it and see. ha Thats not possible, so astrology can let us "see" where they are now and how they are doing>> Very advanced vedic astrologers can do that. Not so advanced can try. Dreamers can dream. And pretenders can pretend. All is possible. <<Prabhupada said jyotish could tell the past as well as the future birth.>> Yes, but he also said that Bhaktishidanta was the last astrologer. <<George's last words were "love one another." This was a concern because, tho sattvic, it is not freeing>> Prabhu, believe me when you are at the point of death, you realize that words are not important, who are you to decide whether what you say or do is satvic, rajasic or tamasic. The last judge is always God and we may not understand His designs. We are just learning. One thing is the theory and another is the practice. Krishna always reads the intentions of the jiva and that we do not know how to do. That is why we do not know what is what and who is who. Some may know and guide you and others can pretend and only cheat you. Rules and regulations may be helpful but what makes a jiva a devotee is his/her love for the Lord and not the external appearance. <<However when I found out he was chanting Hare Krishna at the time of death, well, astrology charts aren't even needed anymore. Nothing is more powerful than that. >> Prabhu, when i was dying i could not chant or say anything because i lost my voice. My question is Do a devotee has to hear the chanting to qualify a person for Goloka? or destiny after death is only on God's hands? <<However when I found out he was chanting Hare Krishna at the time of death, well, astrology charts aren't even needed anymore. Nothing is more powerful than that. >> As i have understood so far, the chanting has to be sincere and pure. And there are many levels of spirituality. The one achieved by Prahlada Maharaja, Dhruva Maharaja and Narada Muni are all different. What about sravanam (hearing about the Lord?) or smaranam (remembering the Lord?) or sevanam (serving the Lord?). YS Natabara Das

He did so much service for Prabhupada, and Prabhupada liked him so much, I am convinced that he did reach the ultimate goal. Such is the power of service to a pure devotee. I don't think it's correct to say that 'we can't know where a person goes'...in some instances, it can definitely be known. your servant stavavali
