Guest guest
Dear listers, I wish to seek advice concerning Doshas in the following mode. 1.What are Doshas generally and how they differ from yogas? 2.Is the nature of a Dosha permanent or more permanent than that of a yoga? 3.What is sarpa dosha and how does it come about? 4.What is sarpa yoga (if there is a sarpa yoga) 5.Are there any special conditions like bonus and maluses if a dosha is paired with a transitory effect like a sade-saati? 6.What are the methods of appeasing a dosha / yoga and how lasting their effects are vis-a-vis the dosha. i.e. if a dosha is permanent (in a natal chart) can special precautions be taken to ward of its effects for the entire lifespan of a native or is one expected to pray at regular intervals esp. in bad transitory periods). 7.What happens when one is afflicted by a dosha and a yoga together (is this a possibility?) Does the presence of a dosha in a natal chart prove to be a pre-condition for further malady if there is a malefic yoga forming on the transitory patterns? 8.Roles of Ishta and Kashta Phalas of planets in such doshas 9.Interactions of Dashas Doshas and Yogas Since I know the question at hand happens to be one that affects me personally, I would greatly appreciate the listers learned advice so I can apply the information in a cse sensitive manner and inform you of the outcomes so as to hopefully understand astrology from a subjective viewpoint, rather than an objective and often clinical view. I've also included my birth data for the benefit of those who may wish to adopt the case for study in a more sensitive manner. Pl. remember, any postings arising may be of immense help to me to change my life and on a less selfish note, may actually help all of us understand better the real time gravity of a situation as is transpiring with me (so I'm told) now. This may be unconnected but I have been informed by at least a hundred people about the visitation of a blacker than most crow in an indoor location just above where I sit to work, on Fridays generally and on days preceding darker events. Two weeks ago, the crow appeared on the day I was supposed to leave for out of town (which I did) only to learn my father had fractured his shoulder. Yesterday, on the day of my return, over 20 people reported the crows visit a half hour before my arrival in its usual place on the rafters over my head. I'm not sure this has relevance, but the people who see this crow warn me of further danger as it is considered a bad omen. As for me, on the lowest ebb of of what must be one of the most fortunate lives one can possibly live, I keep asking what else could possibly go wrong. Everything that was once taken for granted is now taken away. Thank You Ajay 27-Sep 1969, 19:29 IST, Chennai India, currently a resident of Bangalore India. Guest guest
Normally I'm familiar with "Dosha" pron. Doe-sha as an ayurvedic term, relating to one's physical constituion as being a mix of fire, air, water, as in Pitta, Vatta, Kapha. Perhaps you mean "Dasha", which is an astrological term relating to the periods of life ruled by the various planets, such as in the sentence, "I'm in Saturn dasha, Jupiter sub period". Those are daw-shas, dashas. So the o and the a may be confused in your question letter. Yes, the visitation of a crow is an omen for Saturnine events, which include troubles often. At the same time, we should know that God often first has to strip us of "what is now" so that we can move on. Even terrible, horrible events in life, are good, in that they are clearing past karma, or I prefer to say, breaking away attachments, bringing us to our knees in prayer, and then later in this life and especially the next, we are cleared of karma, made more humble and spiritual, and we can then have even better, higher, lives. The higher and finer levels of consciousness come the more we accept the lessons Saturn is in charge of delivering. He mainly kills our false egos, more than any other planet. Though born of the Sun (ego), is opposed to it completely. Those who are surrendered, have no fear of crows. Attachment to wealth and opulance creates fear of crows as their ways, Saturn's ways, are more powerful than the protection the opulant side of life can provide, just as terrorists are hard to detect, so also Saturn, can slip like water into a crack, and then freeze and break the rock to pieces. Enough preaching, sorry, hard to stop myself. 1.What are Doshas generally and how they differ from yogas? Dashas are periods planets rule, they last for varying lenghts of time. You are always in some dasha. They can be building, growing, improving types or negative types. This is what we use to predict when events will happen. What is promised in the chart, happens when the appropriate dashas run. If you recently switched dashas from an opulant one to a materially negative one, that may explain the change in your life. 2.Is the nature of a Dosha permanent or more permanent than that of a yoga? Yogas are combinations in your chart. You have them lifelong. They will manifest moreso in the dashas of the planets which create the yoga. So the two are linked. Money is in your wallet, but only when you get to the store can you spend it. The yoga is in your chart, but only in certain dashas will it become pronounced. 3.What is sarpa dosha and how does it come about? I have never heard of this. 4.What is sarpa yoga (if there is a sarpa yoga) Yes, there are yogas with this name. The "kala sarpa" yoga is caused when all of one's planets are inbetween Rahu and Ketu on one side of the zodiac. The idea then is that the nodes, which are somewhat materially difficult and can be very distressing in their effects often, seem to have all your planets in their grip, and the idea then is that this is a negative yoga, as if your life is in the mouth of a serpent, which is not a great place to live. I do not think that this is the end of the world kind of thing, but those who have it feel it is somewhat real and true. 5.Are there any special conditions like bonus and maluses if a dosha is paired with a transitory effect like a sade-saati? Yes, if you mean "Dasha", then yes, when the dasha running at some point in your life is a negative one materially, and then some transits come which are materially negative in the same areas of life, that is when hard events will come to pass in one's life. Bad dashas and transits are like being in a bad neighborhood at night, that is when one meets thieves and other rogues. In the day it might be OK to go there, or at night it might be OK to go to a good neibhorhood, but if one goes to the bad area at night, that's the worst idea. So the combination of negative forces is dangerous, but it happens to all of us eventually. Dashas are up to say 20 years for Venus, 19 for Saturn. Never a whole life. Some people feel you can take precautions such as yagyas and gems, but others say one must take to prayer, penence, charity, etc. You have probably heard of all such things as you live in South India. A traditional panda/jyotish would look at your chart and recommend so many things as possibly helpful. My feeling is that it's also good to remember that you are in the hands of Divinity always, so if Divinity is starting to come down on you hard, it's also therefore a good idea to try to understand why- knowing that punishment is ultimately done to you out of love and concern from your guardian. So if we get the lesson and correct the attitude and behavior, then the guardian will let up. Fast is though, the periods relate to how long it takes for us to get it, Divinity is that smart. 7.What happens when one is afflicted by a dosha and a yoga together (is this a possibility?) Does the presence of a dosha in a natal chart prove to be a pre-condition for further malady if there is a malefic yoga forming on the transitory patterns? I mentioned this above in the bad area/night time example. They do combine. I have a yoga that harms my children. In the right dashas, both of my kids have been in serious accidents. Like clockwork. This is normal Jyotish. Most Jyotishis can predict in these ways, the good and bad periods of your life. 8.Roles of Ishta and Kashta Phalas of planets in such doshas Though these are mentioned, very few Jyotishis use them or understand them where I live, in America, and I don't understand them yet either. 9.Interactions of Dashas Doshas and Yogas As stated, they interract. How is a very huge science, basically, that's a major portion of what we study in Jyotish. Actually ever planetary combination is a yoga, and dashas are a key predictive tool and part of Jyotish. You are on the right track definitely therefore, if you are aiming to know the map of your karma in this life. Guest guest
Dear Shri Das & shri Vinodbhai I mean Doshas and not Dashas (aka Dasa) which is period. I am referring to as Vinodbhai said "Kuja" Dosha, "Shani" Dosha, "Naga" Dosha, etc., The part about negative+negative is more clear to me now. I figure the cure has to be in proprtion to the malady, so I'll for the moment think likewise. Traditionally, a short cure may offer symptomatic relief, a medium term cure may suppress the malady for a longer time, but is again subject to continuing remedial measures and the best bet is to reorganize your lifde, for eg. a person with a permanent disability learns to readjust by accepting and changing his life inh synchronicity. Guest guest
Om Gurave Namah--------------------------Dear Ajay, DOSHA For the benefit of all, let me clarify that dosha has a "DOUBLE" meaning in Vedic Astrology. Pronounced Doe-sha, it can mean (a) one (or more) of the humors predomination the human constitution as Vata, Pitta, Kapha etc, used in Ayurveda (an Upaveda which is Vedic Medicine actually) and Jyotish also (refer BPHS), or (b) The errors in our Karmic constitution that have led to this birth i.e. the predominant blunder we made in the last birth or so that has caused us to return to this planet and suffer the experience. This is normally defined as a CURSE. Among all the Avatar of Vishnu, Rama had the curse of Narada and hence had to suffer loss of spouse etc in the incarnation. I have given considerable details in my book Vedic Remedies in astrology. Here are some extracts: EXTRACTS FROM VEDIC REMEDIES Page- 16: References galore in the sacred literature where even the most evolved souls have to undergo punishment until deliverance. For example, two demi-Gods had to reincarnate as Arjuna trees due to their misconduct of appearing nude in front of a sage and when the period of punishment ended, baby Krishna delivered them from the misery[1]. Thus, if a chart is under the curse of a sage, the deliverance is achieved by worshipping Sri Krishna in his baby form. In this manner, the intelligent jyotish[2] can learn the remedial measures from the sacred literature. Page -75: Curse of past Birth The deep-rooted problems have been explained in the Brihat Parasara Hora Shastra where the curses that cause delay or denial in childbirth are indicated. These can also be suitably extended to other houses. The principle is that the house, its Lord as well as its natural significator should all be afflicted either together or separately by malefics. These are as follows: Curse of a Brahmin (Jupiter): Jupiter indicates Brahmins & priests. Affliction of Jupiter by Saturn and Mars or by Rahu indicates the curse of a Brahmin (Priest or spiritual person) in the last birth. The houses owned by Saturn shows the area of trouble. A Brahmin will also fulfill the curse of a Brahmin, although he would be of very bad temperament and nature. Remedy lies in Chandrayana[1] Vrata (fasting) and donation of cows, five gems and some gold. Chart 0.3Bhagawan Sri Ram Chart 3.3 is the horoscope of Bhagawan Sri Ramchandra. Jupiter is the ninth Lord (Guru) in Lagna with the Moon showing a powerful Gajakesari Yoga as well as Hamsa Mahapurusha Yoga. The presence of other exalted planets in quadrants also constitutes powerful Mahapurush Yoga like Ruchak (Mars) and Sasa (Saturn), besides Dharma Karmadhipati yoga etc. Yet anyone who has read the Ramayana will see how much suffering Bhagawan had to undergo in this incarnation. Thus, the presence of a curse can mar the fructification of a Rajyoga. Jupiter is aspected by Saturn and Mars showing the curse of a Brahmin[2]. Since Jupiter is in Lagna, Sri Ram had to undergo this suffering. The houses owned by Saturn indicate the aspect of life where the suffering will occur. Here, Saturn is the Lord of the 7th and 8th houses and the seventh house is stronger to indicate the problem area as marriage/married life. Ravana the Lanka King abducted his wife Sri Sita and they had to undergo untold suffering leading to the death and destruction of the Demon King. Ravana was a Brahmin by birth (but not by Karma). Bhagawan Sri Ram worshipped Lord Shiva at Rameshwar (just before the battle with Ravana) and was redeemed from the curse. Curse of Serpents (Rahu): Please read the book for more details if you find this helpful. Ajay you need to FAST on full Moon days and worship Satya Narayana. [1] Sri Krishna is the lunar incarnation of Maha Vishnu the Universal soul as explained by Parasara in the Brihat Parasara Hora Shastra. [2] Jyotish: Astrologer [1] Instead of Chandrayana Fast, worshipping Lord Shiva on Mondays is a definite method of getting relief from the curse of a Brahmin. [2] As per tradition, Devarshi Narada was struck by the arrow of his younger brother Kama Devata (God of Love) and wanted to marry which amounted to breaking his solemn promise of celibacy. Sri Narayana (Vishnu) turned his face into that of a monkey and the bride rejected him. Learning about this, Narada flew into a rage and cursed Narayana that He too would have to suffer the loss of His beloved Sri Lakshmi. In order to fulfill the words of His ardent Devotee as well as to establish Dharma the Lord incarnated as Sri Ram.
