Prabhupada the Unknowable

After all, Srila Prabhupada's chart is one where the ascendent is on

edge of either Capricorn or Sagittarius, so, this means his Bhava chart

will be always split between the two signs for the first house.

Similarly, the planets will fall into various bhavas which may or may

not match either Lagna choice's signs.

 

The BPHS does talk about Bhava charts, and so, giving them some

credence, we can kindof move on the from the house placement issue (and

instead argue "equal or Sripati" !), and then the Lagna sign becomes

less important. Any "cuspy" ascendent chart is always a bit of a snarl

as per the kind of discussion we've been having here. I haven't heard

much mention of the bhavas. Supposedly, it is a part of the science,

although I note that few of us seem to use them much. I've always

noticed that. The Ojha family, father and son, say that Bhava charts are

an insertion into the science from elsewhere, and not really Vedic.

They, like some others, say that BPHS is so full of insertions put in

later, that it's completely unreliable as a cornerstone, which changes

the whole field of course.

 

I think perhaps maybe, with ascendents which are near sign edges, the

bhava may come into play more, or may be necessary to use to judge

because the signs are not then as much the actual houses as we're used

to them being.

 

Also, it is taught in BPHS to take the Moon as Lagna if it is stronger

than the ascendent, and that may be the case here, which is then Taurus rising.

 

I have watched this lagna be argued about for years in His case, and it

is never fully solved.

 

Perhaps there's a reason for that, as Prabhupada is a person who

demanded surrender from others towards Krishna. He, like his Guru,

declared "war on maya" and taught Krishna bhakti as the all in all, the

only way. So perhaps Krishna is making Him such that we can never hold

him, know Him. It seems like one of Krishna's tricks!? He is not to be

held or understood in the normal world perhaps. Perhaps is to remain a

mystery in this way.

Dear Raghu

This is not quite correct .The rectifications taking place are of half an

hour or more which is way too much for a Vaisnava family who had

Prabhupada's chart done from the start and knew the importance of accurate

birth time .

Hi all!

 

Mani the Menace is back home, trying to catch up and get in a word edgewise! The

Lagna of Srila P is an annual and has been discussed every year. The discussions

are interesting, but how will there ever be an answer? Can concensus

of opinion confirm a fact? Is the unanimous decision of a jury an absolute

confirmation of guilt - or innocence? A very moving film with Henry Fonda (The

Wrong Man???), based on facts, showed that it was not. As also the film "Witness

for the prosecution" (Marlene Dietrich and Charles Laughton).

 

The arguments are interesting, but the effort is rather futile! Gradually the

arguments are getting very personal and "how dare you contradict my opinion?!"

As a pure advaitist I never "ran behind" Srila P, but he definitely did not live

to engender strife. Pity if his lagna leads to this!!!
