Guest guest
Dear Anna, It is nice, as always, to hear from you! Thank you for understanding clearly what I wrote. One of the hardest tasks is to present an opposing opinion, or even an argument against someone else's work, without being judgmental, or without offending the person. In any case, reasonable people take the criticisms of SA that way, and not some kind of elitist or patronizing condescension. The fact is, and as Manoj pointed out also, the basic tenets of SA (System's Approach) deviate from essential Parasari teachings, all of which comprise the art and science of Jyotish. As das said, if we go deeper into what is taught, then there is no need to extrapolate, or create new systems. You will hear SA people say that by learning this system, you will be able to make extremely and reliably accurate predictions. You certainly can do that with Jyotish also (and I exclude SA from the category of Jyotish), yet predicting is also a matter of individual talent, as well as a result of purity in habit, lifestyle, sadhana, and consciousness. So no one has a brand name product for predicting, although all the tools are given in BPHS and other classics. >However, I wouldn't put SA in the same basket as using Jyotish and some >western astr. concepts. Know the rules first, >than search for exemptions, fine tuning, etc.., I'd say). Until a student learns and assimilates Jyotish fully, he/she will still make use of techniques previously known and used, such as in your case, where you are an accomplished western astrologer already. It is natural that one will gravitate toward the systems in which he feels comfortable, and which are reliable through time. I will venture to say this, however: that eventually, you will give up western astrology completely, and use Jyotish. Of course, that's presumptuous on my part, but I have seen it so many times having had numerous students who came from western astrology initially. This is not to diminish western astrology in any way - we are talking about a natural evolution here. Eventually, in other words, you align yourself fully with one system or the other. We are just scratching the surface of Jyotish on this list - there is so much more, and the doors are starting to open to those jewels, and they are all there in the BPHS and Jaimini Sutram. >Thank you for your post Robert: written with honesty and integrity, yet >sensibly respectful, as always- enviable qualities so many of us, I am >sure about that, appreciate so much. Thank *you* Anna, always my pleasure to speak with you. Best wishes, Robert ===================================== Robert A.
