Guest guest
Hi Das, Thank you very much for your posting but i am doing some adjustements and clarifications to some birth times. Lord Chaitanya was born at 17:27:15 as you can see from my article: The Horoscope of Lord Chaitanya The Vaisnava community is well aware of the book Sri Caitanya Caritamrita, translated from Bengali into English by A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada and published in 1974 by the Bhaktivedanta Book Trust. The 17 volumes are a mine of vedic information. It is in the Adi Lila, volume 3 pag 102 or Adi Lila chapter 13, text 89 & 90, where we find about the horoscope of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. "Thus in the year 1407 of the Saka Era in the month of Phalguna [March-April] on the evening of the full moon, the desired auspicious moment appeared." Purport. Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura, in his Amrita-pravaha-bhasya, has presented the horoscope of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu as follows: Saka 1407/10/22/28/45 7 11 8 15 54 38 40 37 40 13 6 23 When I first read this at the beginning of 1976, I could not understand it. It was until February 1980, when a devotee sent me a book from India in which I found the key to understand those numbers. That book is The Brihajjatakam of Varaha Mihira, translated by Swami Vijnanananda. First we have Saka 1407/10/22/28/45 or the year/month/day/dandas/and palas of the 23rd day. This means that Lord Chaitanya was born on the 23rd day (22 days had passed) of the 10th month of the Saka year of 1407. According to our present calendar, He was born on 18 February 1486. His time of birth is also given as 28 dandas and 45 palas after sunrise. According to vedic astrology, one day and night or 24 hours in time, are divided by 60 Dandas. 1 Danda = 60 palas 1 pala = 60 vipalas 1 Danda = 24 minutes 1 pala = 24 seconds So, if we multiply 28 dandas by 24 minutes = 672' And if we multiply 45 palas by 24' = 1080" or 18'. We get 672' + 18' = 690' or 11 hours 30 minutes. This means that the time of birth was at 11 hours and 30 minutes after sunrise. According to the GJ, the sunrise for 27 Feb 1486 or adjusting to the 18 Feb is at 5:57:15 at Navadwip, India. And adding 11:30 we get that the birth of Lord Chaitanya was at 17:27 Then we have the next table of numbers 7 11 8 15 54 38 40 37 40 13 6 23 Or, Saturday P.Phalguni Yoga Purnima dandas dandas Dandas palas palas Palas vipalas day of month So, if we read the first column on the left, we have that number 7 means the 7th day of the week or Saturday; 15 means the 15th day of the moon or full moon; 40 dandas and 13 palas means the time lapsed of that moon day. If we multiply 40x24 we get 960' and 13x24 = 321" or 5.2' 965'/60 = 16h05 The second column indicates: 11 means the 11th constellation and the numbers below are the dandas, palas and vipalas as the duration of the constellation. If we multiply 54x24 = 1296' ; 37x24 = 888'' or 14'48" ; and 6x24 = 144''' or 2.4'' or 21h 50'50" for the duration of the constellation The last column indicates the yoga number 8 called Dhriti and the number below indicate the duration of that yoga in dandas and palas. If we multiply 38x24 = 912' and 40x24 = 960'', or 15h28 for the duration of the yoga. We have the main data: The 15th moon day's duration is 16h05 The duration of the 11th constellation is 21h50'50" The duration of the 8th yoga is 15h28 According to the Goravani Jyotish programe the horoscope calculated for the 27 February 1486 (we have to adjust the programe 9 days after the date given and for the time zone we put 5.875) the position of the planets is: Asc Leo 22° 20' Purva 11 Sun Aqu 22° 10' Purvabhadra 25 Moon Leo 19° 34' Purva 11 Mars Cap 11° 9' Shravan 22 Mercury Pis 10° 14' Uttarabhadra 26 Jupiter Sag 20° 20' Purvashadha 20 Venus Ari 4° 56' Ashwini 1 Saturn Sco 24° 40' Jyestha 18 Rahu Aqu 26° 37' Purvabhadra 25 Ketu Leo 26° 37' Purva 11 The number besides the name of the constellation helps me to speed my intellect cos I know in the way the planet ruling the constellation. 1 or 10 or 19 = Ketu, 2 or 11 or 20 = Venus, 3 = sun, 4 = moon, 5 = mars. 6 = rahu, 7 = jupiter, 8 = saturn, 9 = mercury. Please note that this numbers and planets indicate the order of the constellations and not numerology. The quoted verse is from Adi Lila Ch 13, text 90 Simha-rasi, simha lagna, ucca graha-gana Sad-varga, asta varga, sarva sulaksana Translation by Srila Prabhupada "According to the Jyotir Veda, or Vedic astronomy, when the figure of the lion appears both in the zodiac and the time of birth [lagna], this indicates a very high conjunction of planets, an area under the influence of sad-varga and asta-varga, which are all auspicious moments" We have to remember that this horoscope was ascertained by Nilambara Chakravarti, the grandfather of Chaitanya. The sad-vargas are rasi, hora, drekana, navamsa, dwadasamsa and trimsamsa. So, in the rasi we have Mercury in nechabhanga raja yoga, jupiter in own house and Mars exalted. In the navamsa chart we see the Sun, Rahu & Ketu exalted and Venus and Mars in their own sign. A very powerful indeed. This chart gives a beginning of Venus period at 19 Oct 1476 which is adjusted for 9 day minus to our present calendar at 10 Oct 1476. So the Lord appeared on his VeRaVe. Regarding the horoscope of Bhaktisidhanta. According to the 1989 Palani Panchang (Trivedi American Panchang, on page 90 for The Horoscope of a Great Acharya, they give 6 feb 1874 15:45 IST at Puri, Orissa. For Srila Prabhupada i have 1 Sep 1896 at 15:20, LMT, Calcutta India. And according to Mani and Doris Doanne, births in India on that year were following the local mean time. This means that for the time zone we have to put 5.89 hours east of GMT instead of 5.5 and i get in the GJ programe 27°21:56 Sagittarius. There is an eternal discussion about Prabhupada's lagna and IMHO he has Sagittarius lagna. Regarding the data for Srila Shridhar Maharaja, Thanks a lot but i have to go to take rest now and i will post later, otherwise i go very sick due to my recovery. Best wishes Natabara Das
Guest guest
Om Krsnaaya Namah Hi All, > > > Srila Bhaktisiddhanta > 02/06/1874 > 15:30:00 > Jaganath Puri India > This data is correct - but the time zone should be 5 Hours 21 minutes east of GMT, and not LMT. This data gives a Gemini Lagna. However it is worth mentioning that Srila Bhaktisiddhanta was one of the most accomplished astrologers in India in his early days (before he renounced astrology to concentrate fully on preaching), and was fully capable of rectifying his horoscope. In the biography prepared by his disciples, his ascendant is mentioned as being Cancer, presumably because the Thakura himself stated so. So perhaps one should consider adding to the TOB to make it Cancer while working with his chart.
