Aditi is the mother of the 12 Adityas, Indra, Visnu, Bhaga, Tuasta, Varuna, Aryama, Pusya, Mitra, Paryanya, Visvasvan and Dibakara.. Ther name Adity is also associated with Asta Basu- the 8 virtues of man. Aditi is also refered as the mother of 7 creative forces as well as death and the wife of kasyapa, father of Surya. Mitra means frienship. He holds men to their engagement urging them to associate together. Pusan married the daughter of Surya. Guards the roads, protects men and animals from the dangers of the roads, finds out lost objects and animals. He gives abundance. In rears and and gives shelter.
