Guest guest
Dear Das, Rohini & list. It was not my intention to insult anybody and now i see that the word gringo is misunderstood. By gringo i am not refering to americans. I have a lot of american friends and i never consider them with that word because they are not invading soldiers. The british tv showed a programe that body language can be different in different countries. For example a yes by moving the head is a no in some parts of south italy and a no can be a yes in others. To me the word gringo comes from the time when many many years ago, the american soldiers were infiltrating the north of Mexico (in Texas, remember the Alamo). Mexican people at that time were telling the american soldiers "Green Go", because they were wearing green uniforms and they were invading the country. Mexican people were telling those soldiers to go home. It is not a bad word but people at that time did dot know much english. I have too mexican friends that have become american citizens or married americans and that is their choice and i do not criticise them. I was answering to Max in his statement that everyone wants to live in America. And no everyone wants that. We may have a bad regimen in mexicoland but we have learned to survive. Max was a headache and to me he was invading my territory with his silly concogtions. In his latest posting to me Max is telling me that i am not telling the truth because he is a witness to mexicans running inside the bordier. Well, what to answer to that guy. He should read my statement because i am a witness as well. Some of my friends have done it and i am pleased that they got a better standard of life or that they achieved what they were looking for. Some of them have died as well in their intent or have been exploited, but i have never seen 99 million running inside the bordier. What is more, not all of those souls are mexicans but poor people from Guatemala and other poor countries as well. In a nice note, some of those poor refugees are caught by the american inmgigration officers and treated with medicines that they can not aford in their life time. One day, a poor refugee from Guatemala was caught in the bordier. He was looking for a better way of life and perhaps later send dollars to his children and wife left behind in Guatemala. The american authorities caught him and did an scan and medical examination and found that he had a very advanced tuberculosis. By law, they told him that he had 2 options. One was that he was going to be deported from america and later on perhaps he was going to try to cross the bordier again. Or, that he accepted to be put in quarentine for 6 months until cured and then be deported. He was very poor and perhaps he could not even afford an aspirine. He chose the 2nd option and he was put in a glass room incomunicado because he was very contagious. He received the best medical treatment and had newspapers and color tv in his room. Eventually, he was cured and deported. I hope that this clarifies the matter. Best wishes natabara
