Astrologically, these trends were foreseen as early as in November 2000 and perhaps,if they had been heeded, the U.S. Government could have been better geared to handle these diabolic trends. Attention is drawn to page 17 of The Astrological Magazine, January 2001 where Gayatri Devi Vasudev, Editor, The Astrological Magazine said in an editorial "World Trends and Tensions in 2001-2002" dated 18-11-2000, discussing the trends for the lunar year (Vishu March 2001 to April 2002) under the forecast for the U.S.A.: .... Martian aspect on the 8th house holds forebodings of a grim nature and also a national tragedy. The retrogression of Mars though favourable for the dollar initially, can produce quite contrary results later and also carry seeds of violence for the White House. At least on two occasions, diabolic fundamentalist violence may be attempted . . . . and The retrogression of Mars in Scorpio warns against developments rousing the ire of the Arab world against the United States. Earlier on page 5, she said : Mars will be in opposition to Rahu on 14-9-2001 and Mars resumes direct motion on 20-7-2001. Mars and Jupiter reach an exact oppostion on 3-10-2001. A major air-crash is possible killing several passengers. Flight dates, if planned on astrological principles by passengers, can help many escape such disasters. Mars aspects Saturn ® on 22-12-2001. The United States may find itself forced into military action in the Gulf. . . . On page 18 of the same issue, under U.S.A. she also said : The eclipses of 2001 have a bearing on the rising sign of the country and could indicate several road, rail and air accidents with heavy loss of human lifeand again on pages 26, 27: The U.S. may antagonise the Arab World . . . . Fundamentalist violence assumes frightful proportions. It may also be interesting to note in the context of the Palestine leader Yasser Arafat's recent visit to India and meeting with our prime-minister Vajpayee what she had said for West Asia on page 24 of The Astrological Magazine, January 2001 : A fluid state of affairs prevails with tensions erupting and war clouds hanging in the air most of the year. The period upto November 2001 will be particularly sensitive in this regard. But a full-fledged war itself may be averted by the timely and sagacious intervention and efforts of India.
