Guest guest
Hi Chris, Robin, List, Nodes change of direction happens so often, so I tend to agree with Chris: "..That will likely weaken whatever effect they have on a person's chart.' When that happens with any other planet- it is really very significant- in progressions, both direct and converse (western), any change of direction of any planet signifies a related, significant event- a person hardly ever forgets those years: of mercury's directional change, and even more so of slower planets c. of direction. I haven't noticed that the same happens with nodal directional changes- unless they coincide with planetary one(s). It's also my experience that the stationary planet in natal chart has indeed an exceptional significance- but nodes?. And since it's easier to test this issue with progressions, deduction may be made that the the relevance is the same with natal nodes (?). "I don't use them myself, but there are some who do"- yes, Braha seems to treat them equally as any other planet. I am wondering how one can "test" if stationary Nodes "behave" the same way as planets, if, as per my experience, at least, they don't mark any significant happenings in life, in progressions. I would like to hear more opinions on this. The nodes station a few times a month rather than a few times a year. That will likely weaken whatever effect they have on a person's chart. I don' use them myself, but there are some who do. He even states that he feels that JFK would not have lived as long as he did without his stationary Mercury, even though it's in his 8th house. My father in law has a nearly stationary Jupiter and Pluto close to stationary as well. James has under 'Positive Planetary Priorities', number 1 - Stationary Direct or Stationary Retrograde "Beats everything". I hadn't heard that and wonder if you and others feel the same way about stationary planets. So far it has been helpful and useful for me since reading this. > Yes, I think stationary planets are as important as James says. For example, BV Raman was born the same day as a Mercury station -- not bad for an astrologer! And remember that its really a speed question here. The slower the planet is from normal, the stronger it is. That may be one reason why retrograde planets are considered stronger -- they are always slower when they are retrograde. The trouble in prioritizing things is that it's really not clear which is stronger than what. If someone was born on a Mercury station with Mercury in Scorpio, how does that compare with someone born with Mercury at full speed in Virgo? I suspect that Mercury will have a stronger influence in the life of the first person, but perhaps it might not all be positive. The Mercury in Virgo person may have better luck with Mercury-type things in life, but won't necessarily be involved with them all the time. I agree with you completely. I appreciate getting your views. I hadn't heard this mentioned before (had you?) and wanted to see if others use it and found it accurate and important. Many thanks, Patrice
Guest guest
Patrice: The first time I saw this idea was in Rick Houck's book. He was a strong advocate of planetary speed and its strength. Chris At 12:07 PM 8/31/01 -0400, you wrote: >Dear Chris, > >>>>Yes, I think stationary planets are as important as James says. Guest guest
What about stationary Nodes? My younger son has stationary Rahu in Pisces Lagna, Ketu in 7th Virgo. Both alone. I have stationary Rahu conj Sun in 11th Sagittarius, Stationary Ketu in Gemini 5th (also this is Arudha Lagna). Robin
Guest guest
Thanks, Chris, I was looking for clues as Ketu is in 5th and 5th house matters are definitely at the forefront in my life right now--5th house ruler and Bhukti lord Mercury in 10th aspected by Dasa lord Jupiter (in 6th--I don't usually have enemies but whew!) , and they are in 5/9 relationship --you would have thought they were 6/8 relationship or something the way things are going. But hopefully things will turn out OK, maybe the Jupiter/Rahu transit in Gemini is complicated. I am as you know one anxious mother. Thanks, Robin
