Guest guest
Dear IIona, Wendy, Visti and all, Just checked with my father in law to see in which ear he is currently experiencing deafness. It is his right ear. This happened on May 12th or 13th - dashas were Jupiter/Rahu/Ketu/Mars. If we take the third house as karaka for his right ear, his chart has Saturn ruling the 3rd house (and the 2nd). Saturn positioned in the eighth with debilitated Mars. Mars and Saturn are in a Mercury ruled Nakshatra. And Mars and Saturn are in exact conjunction, 19 degrees 9'. In this Aquarius third house, rasi dristi would also add aspect from Mars via Aries. Also, Aquarius is co-ruled by Rahu and Saturn, and Rahu again in the first house. If we took the 2nd house as indicator, Mars aspects by graha dristi. Saturn and Jupiter are both in the houses of great enemies. I hope this timing helps. It's an interesting chart with this currently going on with respect to Jupiter Mahadasha and physical health, Jupiter's possible role in this. Of course, all through this he has also been in Rahu bhukti, and Rahu in first house. A novice question: When we look for ownership of the dual owned rasis (I know there is debate as to which rasis Rahu and Ketu co-own. In this case if we were to say Rahu and Saturn co-own Aquarius) I thought we would say Saturn would be ruler in this chart as He is in the 8th with Mars and Rahu is alone in the first. Does the fact that Mars is an enemy of Saturn and Mars debilitated here have ANY influence on this ownership of Aquarius? Best regards, Patrice

(Found the books accurate in charts I tested, but hard; decided to forgo studying til life less stressful & complicated, can't do 'em justice) Good luck, Namaste, Robin
Guest guest
Dear Patrice, The question of whether Saturn or Rahu have ultimate rulership of Aquarius, or whether Mars or Ketu have rulership over Scorpio is a misconception perpetuated by some modern authors. The fact is that Saturn rules Aquarius and Mars rules Scorpio. The co-rulerships of Rahu and Ketu are secondary and can never overrule the ownership of the major planets (Saturn and Mars). Scripture states that Rahu behaves like Saturn and Ketu behaves like Mars, but this is in a very general sense due to their relationship as co-lords....but they're always the co-lords, never the primary lord. So if one is in a dasa of Rahu, for instance, one would consider the house for which he is co-ruler; e.g., in my horoscope Rahu mahadasa brought a major change in regard to family...Aquarius owns 2nd house of family of which Rahu is a co-ruler. Rahu in kendra can bring sudden major life-changes. I was adopted during Rahu/Saturn dasa...a major change in family I would say. So in this way Rahu's connection with Aquarius is appropriate, but to question who (between planets or nodes) has legitimate rulership of a sign is ridiculous. I've got to get my books found and unpacked. I have Sanjay's books and very much appreciate your clearing this up before I can get to them. Hope your days lose the stress and you can enjoy some of this late summer and early fall. I'm sorry to hear of all the trauma with and involving your son. May it all improve quickly. Wishing you both joy. Kind regards, Patrice

This is, in my opinion, pretty advanced stuff--I looked into it, saw some really cool things but it also gave me a headache, a good bit out of my league just yet; decided to reserve this part of the study for when I can really give it justice (study a lot of charts). There is so much to learn of the basics, as Wendy says! I really recommend James Braha's new book to help with basics. It answers some questions, and also raises some new ones I intend to e-mail and ask him about as soon as my life settles down so I can think. I will share the Qs & As (assuming there will be As--wrote James Braha once before, & he sent autographed books with his answer, so I'm hopeful of the As) if anyone's interested. It seems to me when he knows something, he knows it. He did mention another astrologer talking about Arudha Lagna by the description--called it karakamsa (which is different from Arudha Lagna, as far as I know, it's the navamsa of the atmakaraka); so that was an error, but he never said he used this, he just said the other astrologer made accurate predictions from the technique. I should have noticed the word novice and said save the other stuff for later--it is fun to try other techiques, but if you don't have the basics all in your head, it makes the head ache. Jaimini is like extreme fine-tuning. I was fascinated but it drove home to me to get the basics down firmly in your mind, and to see what works and what doesn't for you. If you mix and match you can get lost. Or at least that is my experience; Wendy has far more experience than I do and experience counts! I like what Wendy said about checking out Rahu as co-owner of Aquarius (and that may mean Ketu as co-ruler of Scorpio) during dasas. Love you guys, Robin
Guest guest
Dear Wendy and Robin, Wendy, I didn't catch your response to this yesterday when I ran through the emails in a hurry to respond while running out the door. (Co-rulership with Rahu and Ketu) Thank you both for all your attention on this. When I asked the question, I didn't realize this was one of those areas that gets these debates on techniques going, which I actually try to avoid. I completely appreciate everyone's views on this. As someone who has been studying only about 2 years, and who has benefited so much from all the gracious help of those on this list, I can only say I am genuinely and continually grateful for all direction and help offered.
